WhoAreYou wrote:Has anyone attempted to hybridize a "food safe" (i.e. d-limonene and lime instead of naphtha and lye) version of Cyb's Max Ion Tek?
I'd like to use friendlier "kitchen" chemicals, while still getting maximum yields (waste not, want not).
Also, as a side note, I'm interested in using fumaric acid to produce a stable form more conducive to long term storage. Will this cause a loss of non-DMT "full spectrum" alkaloids, or will they also be converted to fumerates?
Thanks

Yes d-limo will work instead of naptha and will pull full spec, that will also be converted to fumarates, lime is for dry teks so you could use sodium carbonate instead but will probably require a longer sitting time to basify the solution, it isnt very good at lysing either so maybe double the time the bark sits in the acid and the basified mix.
To use limo and convert to fumarates you can follow EW mini acid-base/back salt method and obviously dont rebasify. To recover the fumarates you can evap away the water at 50-60 degrees C until you have fumarate crystals then wash the excess fumaric acid out using DRY (anhydrous) acetone. A rice cooker on warm setting should work to remove the water over a 24 hr period.
Follow cybs tek use the exact ammount of d-limo as naptha in the tek (probably requires less pulls) and separate the limo as instructed in the tek.
Prepare a FASW solution and mix with the limo then vigorously shake often over a few hours in a well sealed jar, allow to completely separate.
Remove the limo and save for further washings.
Place FASW now with alks into a porcelain bowl and put this in the rice cookers dish with no lid, make sure there is water in the cookers pot as you would normally do with rice but not so much it spills into the FASW bowl.
Evap off water, scrape up and wash with DRY acetone in a separate dish or wash out the bowl ( away from heat)thoroughly with DRY acetone.
Leave alk fumrates to dry somewhere, scrape up, weigh and dose with due respect.
I see no reason not to use lye if you handle it carefully and safely as firstly none will end up in your fumarates and secondly its safe if you treat it carefuly while wearing gloves and eye protection.
