Hello fellow travelers! I just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself. I've been an explorer of consciousness for quite some time now, but have just gotten into producing my own spice. My first MHRB extraction went ok. I learned a lot of lessons by doing things wrong, but still had a decent yield (0.5%) of big white crystals. I'll be looking for ways to increase my yield on my next extractions and I'm sure this forum will provide me the tools to do so. Happy to be here!

Hi Clockwork Maggot! I am indeed a dude FYI, and the calls to Major Tom will not cease until he decides to answer me!

I used a tek I found online (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11940270) that involved boiling in lye and then extraction with naphtha. Pretty similar to a lot of teks I've read about. My problem was that in a wide steel pot I wasn't able to get the naphtha to rise and separate it from the black nasty lye goop. So I added way too much naphtha thinking that If I added enough I would be able to form a layer thick enough to separate. Still no success.

I was soooo close to giving up on the whole process and dumping out my black pot of poison. Then I did a little more reading (I believe it was Orion's Tek from this site) and transferred the whole mixture into a large glass bottle with a neck and voila! The naphtha separated from the lye solution enough for me to extract it without problem. Then my problem was that I had way too much naphtha for the amount of MHRB I used (50g). So I had to do three freezer precipitations, and evaporate some of the naphtha under a fan.

Long story short, the first precipitation yielded beautiful, big, fluffy crystals - mostly white and a couple yellow, but not a lot in terms of weight. The second precipitation was a little less productive, but then I evaporated a good deal of the naphtha and the third precipitation yielded small crystals, but by far the most spice. I'm doing a fourth and final precipitation tonight and I'm hoping the yield is like today's. I sampled the finished product last night and it's grade A stuff in my book. I think by the end of the whole process I'll end up with a 1.5% to 2% yield, which makes me a happy camper.

I'm very happy that I can rely on myself for this from now on, and now I just need to find a good supplier of MHRB. I used Avalon Magic Plants for my first test order, but now they're out of stock.

Follow this tek to the letter. If your mhrb has 2% dmt in it, you will very quickly & easily get it all out.
That tek is geared towards beginners & leaves very little mess in the kitchen & doesnt involve long boils.

I never did a stb, had no idea it involves boiling a lye mix, don't like the idea of doing that myself lol but do try cyb's atb.

booze bottles are great for naptha pulls, I went onto those after using jars from cooking sauces, it just leaves the separation layer a bit broad. Bottle necks are just the right size and shape

Thanks Tryptamine! That tek looks fairly similar to what I did, but it's got a lot of great detail and pictures. Now I'm just on the look out for an MHRB source.
