My little Psychotria's in the dome that I posted in Ringworm's Psychotria propagation thread are getting a lot bigger now.

They were sold to me as PV, though looking at them now I would say they are probably Carths (or PA).

They're too young to analyse, only time will tell what sort of alkaloid profile they contain. I've posted some pics below:

Psychotria out of Dome

and just for fun...my B. caapi

In my original post I said:

Why did I say that?

Because I feel the plants are too young to contain enough active DMT for an ayahuasca experience, if they are ever to contain such a profile.

Thats great. It's great for the environment which is struggling under the strain for the demand of plant and vine alike. We all need to be sustainable.

It's also selfish in a way. I'm thinking of my own personal experience. Why don't I use this as an opportunity to contribute to wider science?

They're young, yes, too young to contain enough DMT for an ayahuasca experience. They're too young to analyse? Erm...no Macre, they're not too young to analyse.

This is a great opportunity to regularly analyse the alkaloid content of a plant (if any) as it grows. If this plant is ever to contain active alkaloids, it would be very interesting to quantify the rate of alkaloid increase compared to the rate of growth.

No only this, it would be interesting to quantify the alkaloid content of the same plant at different harvesting times within the 24 hour cycle.

I'm thinking I might carry out a monthly analysis of the same plant. On analysis day, I will carry out a separate analysis for perhaps five different harvesting times within a single 24 hour cycle. I'm interested to plot the results.

In time, I may be able to refine the control, by having a multitude of different plants, from different lines, grown in different conditions. That however, is not possible at the moment. Though my proposed plan is hardly groundbreaking or meticulous, it's a start.

Were they seed grown or cuttings ?

If they were cuttings they should have an alkaloid profile very similar to mature plants. if they are seed grown then they'll take at least one full (more like two) season/s before they fulfill their potential and start producing alkaloids in worthwhile amounts.

They do look like Carth's to me at that stage but I'm certainly no expert. Carth's have a really variable alkaloid profile and some are garbage while others are very good.

Let us know how it pans out.

Very nice plant indeed.

They are grown from cuttings. That is certainly as interesting point you raise. I was not aware that cuttings have a greater alkaloid profile. Though it does make perfect sense thinking about it.

I could add that to the control in time, some raised from seed, others from cuttings, different analytical methods.

They are about a year old now. In these photos they are approximately 9 months old. I am going to re-pot them soon.
