i haven't been able to try grains yet, because i cannot afford a pressure cooker,
As a very rewarding next step, i would recommend horse/cow patties and straw,
or even just straw if you don't want to be messy, but patties add a lot of magic!
It's supper easy, do more research, but in summary; just find some dried patties;
crumble them up good, and cut up the straw, mix together in 50/50 or 40/60 ratio;
Pasteurize the substrate; add to a big pot and cover with water and cook at ~170o
(Be sure not to go over 180oF)Let cool and drain over night. Take colonized PFTEK
cakes and birth ina ziplock and crumble them good. Mix evenly with the substrate.
Let this colonize (takes about a week) and expose to light in the fruiting place.
No casing needed, and other mushrooms (like pans) grow well with this method.
iam getting an agar wedge of Panellus stipticus (glowing woodlover) soon. So i've
been learning about using agar and it seems easy also. Keep up the good work!
