Greetings, I am currently studying clinical medicine and am interested in the therapeutic uses of psychedelics. They originally drew my interest to biochemistry half a decade ago and have assisted me greatly on this journey that is life. I believe when used responsibily they can be very useful tools to overcome trauma, open up possibilities, and accept the finality of our limited existence. Isn't it wondrous that these relatively simple compounds interact with us in such profound ways? My goal is to learn as much as I can about them so I can help others. And one of the best ways to learn is first hand experience.
I am well-experienced with our fungal allies but have yet to try DMT. I have been sporadically visiting these forums for a few years but now the time is right for me to proceed. I have located some Acacia confusa and will be doing an extraction very soon. q21q21's A/B tek speaks to me but I am open to suggestions.
DMT specifically interests me because of the short duration when in free base form and its apparent solid reputation for positive outcomes even though it is strong medicine. I am inspired by the therapists who use it to manage anxiety in terminally ill patients as well as help PTSD suffers and those trapped in the cycle of drug abuse. The resurgence in pyschadelics as a clinical tool is promising; hopefully when I finish school the climate surrounding pyschadelic use will have improved even more.
I respectfully request full membership in order to fully participate in this vibrant community. I've already found some threads I want to ask questions in and contribute to but keep finding I do not have rights to post. I enjoy learning in a shared environment together with others and am extremely grateful for this valuable resource here. Thank you for all the teachers who have shared their knowledge and experience! It is immensely helpful.

I believe psychedelic therapy will play an important role in the upcoming years. I too have yet to use DMT, and only have experience in the fungi family. Welcome :-) "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light."

Welcome, aprobablewave! We are certainly living in a fascinating point in history, with the resurgence of clinical studies regarding psychedelics and their potential for healing. In recent years I have very much enjoyed watching new research unfold, and I am excited to see it continue. I really think we on the cusp of a major turning point in the way the general public views psychedelics, and I have high hopes for the future in that regard. Glad to have you on board

Thank you very much for the warm welcomes! universecannon wrote:So what got you interested in psychedelics in the first place? Studying herbal medicine while listening to Alan Watts and Terrence McKenna. Before then I had only heard of recreational use but that opened up the door to using psychedelics as a way to expand my horizons and overcome my own trauma. With some lifestyle changes it worked quite well for me. embracetheparadox wrote:Sounds like an awesome job. Yes but it might have to be quite surreptitious. We'll see how the climate is when I finish school in another half decade! I'm sure it will highly depend on the area I end up in for post-graduate training as well. Welcome :-) Your avatar looks familiar, although it maybe due to Shaivism's popularity. Are you active on the shroomery by chance? Are you going to do an extraction? What brings you to the nexus?

I have never visited the shroomery! I have little knowledge in chemistry, though if I find it simple enough, and develop an understanding, I definitely will be doing so. I first came upon this forum several months ago, and am now making this account. I have been inspired by Terence Mckenna and others (as I'm sure many are). This forum is definitely on a different level with its variety of info and such. "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light."

I agree and believe this change will only accelerate as the "greatest generation" passes away with their more conservative views on drug policy. There is of course danger of reversal if significant backlash breaks out similar to the 80s. Hopefully I can contribute in some small way to this resurgence.
