Hello travellers.

Being pretty depressed and socially anxious since years, I gradually withdrawn from society.
Had Psychotherapy for a while, antidepressants, switched doctors... After years all of this seems completely useless to me, but I comply for the social services - I need them.

A few days ago I stumbled upon a study claiming low doses magic mushrooms were treating anxiety and depression, so I looked it on the interweb. and MY GOD. I kept pulling that thread to my amazement, watched hours upon hours of conferences (MAPS psychedelic science 2013) on youtube and learned a few things that should be common knowledge abour mushrooms, ayahuasca, dmt... and today I register here.

I used to smoke MJ when younger - until I found it was giving me paranoia every time. had MDMA a few times - liked it. Never touched anything else.

Now, I need to test this theory. but I have no experience with entheogens. Where to start ?

I might try growing mushrooms, looks like the easiest to get from here. Any advice welcome.

I'm off to read that amazing looking forum and wiki - I might find answers.

STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

Hya Ketsa!
Welcome to the DMT Nexus!

Sorry to hear about your depression, I know that is no fun at all.
While I can't tell you what to try for fixing it, I can say that there are things that mushrooms can show you that you are highly unlikely to see anywhere else.
The other thing I can say without hesitation is that growing things will make anyone feel good, its a terrific sense of accomplishment even if it can be a challenge at times.
Mushrooms are one of those things that can be very easy, in some places its impossible to keep them from growing.
At the very least its something to do, they are happy little beasties!.

Do keep reading this site, its got an enormous amount of information, and its also got some tremendous people!

Cheers!
Mealea

Mushrooms are definitely a premier candidate for what you are looking for. Experiencing ego death really helps you purge a lot of untreated emotional trauma life over. I never take anything less than a 1/4 oz of cubensis at one time. I usually don't eat prior to taking them for a half a day or more. I always take them alone. I usually take it with an ambient soundtrack playing in the background. Although silence works wonders as well, I have found that certain mixes really help guide the journey and oftentimes synthesize with the visuals in such a way as to give one the impression that the visuals themselves are producing the music. It can be an unbelievably beautiful experience.

I have made tea out of it as well. Just put the mushies in a blender and boil for about 25-30 minutes. Pour it in a glass and just drink it. Doesn't taste that great but it works. I have found that tea is oftentimes less potent, but the onset is faster.

Anyways good luck with your research!

Thanks guys for the welcome and advice, appreciated.

Here are some links to incredible interviews with Johns Hopkins Psilocybin Cancer Project Participants I just saw.

Interview 1
Interview 2
Interview 3

That last guy, himself a psychologist, tries antidepressants and councelling to treat his anxiety and depression after being diagnosed as terminally ill.
His own conclusion : " There was no lasting effects to any of that !"
I came to the same conclusion btw.

Then he takes psylocibin, once, and his life dramatically improves, in every way. the depression is lifted and he becomes a better person.
( I guess somewhere it must be hard to admit it as a psychologist. )

Then there is Report 1

It definitely looks like I am on the right track and in a month or two it will be mushroom season, I ll go on my first semilanceata hunt.
