I see this question sometimes; I had an issue with this when I 1st started posting.

I don't know how to post pictures on the forum...

There are 2 main ways; neither way works in a private message.

1. If the picture is on your computer:

When writing a post, reply, quote, etc... underneath the main box that you write in (pretty far directly under the smileys), there is the word "options" and to the right of that (just above "preview" and "post"), there is a box that you can click that says:
"Attach files to this post?", click "post" then just browse your computer for the file or picture desired.

2. If the picture is online, or if you have put the picture somewhere on the internet like an anonymous image service:

When writing a post, reply, quote, etc... Above the "Font Color", and to the right a little, there is an icon that looks like a mountain with a sun over it (hovering the mouse curser over it, it will say "Insert Image"); click that icon, then the following will appear where the mouse curser was: [img]/[img], just place the webpage url in between the [img]brackets[img].

(click preview to check it out 1st, see if it is how it was intended to be).

Other questions I used to have were:

1. How do y'all do hyperlinks?
2. How do y'all insert youtube videos?

I know the answer now; I may edit this post sometime to explain.

Feel free to ask questions like that here, or answer ones that you think others probably have; if other questions are answered, it may help to edit the thread title.

Maybe this would be a good idea for the FAQ, just a thought.

Just a side note on this, you have to click the "post" button to be taken to the page to upload the attachment, clicking "preview" will not take you to the upload page, you have to click "post".

Thanks for catching that. I've edited it now to increase accuracy.

How to get rid of unintended smileys

Maybe its happened to you. You write a post, you read through make sure it makes sense, you hit post... and there are smiley faces in the middle of your post that you know you didn't put there. Mostly this issue occurs when using parentheses. Some examples of unintended smileys:

If I type (2008), the forum displays (200Cool
If I type ("a parenthetical quote"), the forum displays ("a parenthetical quote"Pleased

The solution is simple:

1.) Identify which character combination is causing the smiley.
2.) Insert an empty formatting tag in between the offending characters.

Returning to our examples above, the offending character combinations are 8) and ")
Now I simply insert an empty formatting tag (I've chosen bold here), like so:
Code:
8[b][/b])

or
Code:
"[b][/b])
