Hello all and thanks for coming to check out this tek it has worked for me several times and it will work for you as well with ALOT of patienceSmile
( I have used the strain b+ with amazing results I cannot speak for other strains in this tek) as I haven't used them yet Razz)
Note: I am a horrible speller and am on an iPad so I apologize for any misspellings

Materials Needed
-spores (works best with syringe)
-one 116 qt tub (can be smaller)
-12 regular quart mason jars
-two 8 quart bags of vermiculite
-one bag of peat moss (at least 2 quarts)
-one 5 pound bag of wild bird seed
-one pressure cooker (big enough to fit qt jars)
-one daylight fluorescent light ( about 2 feet)
-distilled water
-window screen
-polyfil
-tinfoil
-medical tape (must be breathable!!!)
-one 5 gallon bucket
-one towel
-one brick of coco coir (buy from a pet store in reptile bedding)
-12 lids and rings (usually comes with the jars but just in case Smile. )
-a stove
- a timer
-isopropyl alcohol
-a pot
-disinfectant sprays
-paper towel
-lighter
-food dehydrator

Helpful things
- a torch
-flow hood ( I've never used one but it doesn't hurt)
-plastic hanger
-knife
-screwdriver
-funnel
-plug in timer ( for the light)

Ok I think that is everything so lets start the process

Step 1 preparing the wbs
First you want to rinse your wbs( wild bird seed) with water (tap water will work) I usually pop a bunch of holes in the bag and run hot water through it. Do this until your water runs decently clear ( a little brown is OK)

Step 1a
You now want to soak your wbs in a bath for at minimum of 12 hours ( do not use hot water in a closed container youll make alcohol like I did lol)
After your soak you want to put the pot onto the stove and boil for roughly 30 mins (until some of the kernals crack)
After you boil drain the excess water off (once again tap water is fine)
Once again you want to rinse your wbs with water put fill and empty the pot you used a few times till it runs clear again

Step 1b
Now you want to dry your wbs. Evenly distribute your wbs across a window screen where it's not on the ground ( I usually use a bathtub) let the wbs sit for hours checking every once and awhile by picking up a handful and dropping it back onto the screen do this until no more then 20 seeds stick. Now you can pour your wbs into your qt sized mason jars.

During this waiting time you want to make your jars up which is simple take a lid and make a hole about a quarter of an inch wide and stuff with polyfil (not too much ) test with spare syringe

Step 2 pressure cooking /sterization
Now that you have your wbs in your jars you want to place the lids of the mason jars UPSIDE DOWN and screw the lid on all the way then unscrew it lid about a quarter turn (make sure it doesn't just fall off and isn't one all the way no one likes exploding jars eh?) now take tinfoil and put it over the top of your jars to ensure water doesn't get into the jars during the pressure cook

Step 2a
hoping you know how to use your pressure cooker ( because you read the directions right?) you load your jars in and pressure cooker at 15 psi for 90 mins

Step 2b
After 90 mins is up you can either wait until your cooker depressurizes by itself and take them out in a room with ZERO airflow ( hot glass plus cold air equals cracks) or you can let the jars sit inside the cooker overnight ( best thing too do)
A ward of caution for those who have multi jars to do and don't want to wait overnight the jars are EXTREMELY HOT!!!
Dint forget to screw your lids on all the way

Step 3 inoculation
I think I spelled that right ^ anyways now you want to wait until your jars are down to room tempature (if it is too hot it will kill the spores)
You want to get your disinfectant spray and go to a room with ZERO airflow spray it down nice and good and wait roughly ten mins ( breathing disenfectent spray isn't fun)
During that time go grab your ipa ( isopropyl alcohol) your spores paper towel lighter and jars you wish to "knock up"
Wipe down the surface you will be doing your inoculation on very well

Note I do all my inoculations with a syringe but prints will work non the less
Step 3a
take your syringe and your light and light the tip of your syringe until it is glowing red hot ( you'll prolly hear don't popping do not fret)
Take a paper towel fold it in half and put some ipa on it preferable in the middle right so it touches the edge and wipe down the needle while it is still hot ( you'll hear a sizzle don't hold it for too long either)
Now inject around .5-1cc of spore solution into your jar through the polyfil hole
Now give it a few shakes
Repeat this process for all jars you wish to "knock up"

Step 4 colonization aka. Waiting forever and some
Literally you sit and wait play a video game watch some tv something to pass the time lol
You should start to see fuzzy white mycelium in your jars after a week ( quickest I've seen in 2 days)
If you don't have anything after a week don't worry. after 2 weeks be concerned. 3 weeks question yourself and make sure you followed all steps. 4 weeks restart
you want 100 percent colonization ( all of the wbs completely white) before moving on)

During this time you want to get your tub ready I simply take a screw driver and heat it up with a torch and poke holes 5 inches above the bottom of the tub about 1-2 inches apart cover these holes with medical tape then I take the torch and a stick and melt the sides just above the middle and make 3 holes on either side about 2 inches around (longer side) and 3 holes in the lid about 2 inches around stuff these LOOSELY with polyfil ( they should almost fall out)

Step 5 grain to grain transfer (optional)
This is the most cost effective way IMO to spread the seed

Repeat step 3 except grab uncolonized jars and colonized jars

Step 5a
break up your colonized jar by shaking pounding whatever works I usually bang mine on the ground a few times just don't break it

Step 5b
( you should do this with GREAT haste) open your colonized jar and uncolonized one at the same time and quickly pour some of the wbs from your colonized jar into your colonized jar then QUICKLY put the lids back on shake your uncolonized jar to spread the mycelium around the jar some

Note you should see growth in a few days always check for contam

Step 6 preparing your medium
Now that your jars are 100 percent colonized (minimum of 8 for this size tub) you want to Pasterize your medium which will be coco coir and verm
Take your coco coir out of the package and break one brick up into small pieces ( this part sucks) about 1by1 inches each
Get a pot of water 8 quarts ( doesn't need to be exact) and get it too a rolling boil
Get your five gallon bucket and add the coco coir to the bucket down SLOWLY add the boiling water to the coir making sure to stir it around to get all the coir soaked
Now add 8 quarts of verm to your mixture (add two at a time and mix)
Get another pot of water to a rolling boil and add SLOWLY to the verm making sure to mix well

Note it could take more then 16 quarts of water 3 seperate 8 quarts of rolling boiling water sounds better

Now fold your towel a few times and place it over top of your 5 gallon bucket ( it'll be steaming pretty bad at this point)
Now wait for the mixture to come down to room temp and move onto step 7

Step 7 making the mixture Smile
Well you made it this far you must be doing something right eh?
Now you want to grab you colonized jars (Cool your verm/coir mixture your tub your ipa and your disinfecting spray
Spray down where your going to be adding the medium/substrate

Step 7a
First add your medium (verm/coir) mix to the tub spread it out a little bit
Now your going to wanna break up those 8 Beautifully colonized jars and add those to the mix

Step 7b
Now you get to get your hands dirty Pleased
Wash hands with ipa and then mix around the substrate and medium till its all consistent
Spread out the mixture to the corners of the tub and make the mixture as even as possible the more even the better pinset

Note DO NOT PACK IT DOWN

Step 7c
Wait bout 7 days for the mixture to colonize 100 percent just like the jars

Step 8 preparing your casing layer
IMO this is the best way to get a even pinset
Grab about 2 quarts verm 2 quarts peat moss and Pasterize them together
Refer back to step 6
Make sure it is as even as possible and once again DO NOT PACK IT DOWN

Step 9 fruiting
Now you can introduce light into the picture
A little bit of info now
Mycelium grows in conditions where carbon dioxide is dense and very little oxygen is permitted ie. a jar
Once you bring oxygen into the picture the mycelium will begin fruiting and you will see little white knots appearing
Anyways put your light on top of the tub making sure not to push in the polyfil and have it on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours
The light isn't a huge factor IMO but it does help oxygen is the big factor here thus why so many holes in the tub
Make sure there is airflow to your tub as this gives it more oxygen to fruit (promotes fruiting)

Step 10 harvesting and drying
Congratulations you have produces mushrooms (hopefully)
Now to pick the bad boys and when to pick Them
You want to pick them once the veil is beginning to break away from the cap of the mushroom and the stem that is when they are prime but letting them become nice umbrellas is nice too ( more weight) besides it looks cool as hell
Now for picking well I wouldn't call it picking more twisting when your ready for harvest reach in and grab the base of the stem(good luck lol) and twist until the mushroom is free from the mycelium under it

Note try not too pull up too much of the casing layer

Put your picked fruits onto the tray of a food dehydrator and put it on the LOWEST setting
(you might need extra trays Smile. )

Step 11 flushing
You were prolly wondering why you needed distilled water huh well your going to need it to rehydrate your mixture
I usually use 2.5 gallons of distilled water (8.5l)
just dump it right on top of your mixture after harvest and let sit for 12 hours after that drain the excess ( the whole thing might break but no worries ) and you'll have more fruits soon Smile
Repeat this step until you get contaminatin on your cake

I should prolly add that this is for educational purposes only Smile
And that this is all from memory so there might be little things missing from it ( not too important dont worry)

And if you have any questions feel free to ask ill help as best as I can

Using this method I averaged 223 grams dry on first flush and 504 grams in total

My best tub was In total 728 grams plus some change
After 5 flushes and a huge 14 gramer dry

Enjoy

Hey man cool tek. I like how you actually go into detail(some people dont). Anyways SWIM was thinking about doing something like this but scaled down to several 16 qt containers (10Lx8Wx7H) Is pressure cooking really necessary? SWIM knows a guy who just places the jars in a pot and boils them.

Ann I missed a step thanks for saying something and IMO pressuring cooking is the way to go the high temps destroy (most) contams and has a much better success rate. lemme draw something up for a scale down I might also add a down scale not the actual tek for better understanding

See the only problem with adding a down scale is that there is so many different sizes of tubs what I would do is just allow for enough room for the actual fruits 4-6 inches for first flush then it gets bigger after each flush
