I've been somewhat practicing meditation for about six months, but most of the time It's me just listening to some guided meditation and I don't feel that's the best way to go inward. My lack of a set technique and practice is making it difficult for me to develop a daily routine... I'm interested to hear from those who have been practicing meditation regularly for a long time, what is your preferred technique? Single pointed awareness? Mantra? Breathwork? Visualizations? All perspectives welcome!

I use Silence + Deep breathing with the belly/abdomen + Straight spine + Attentiveness to a point in my body where I feel is the source of my 'being' until I can no longer feel my body or hear my mind. Feels alot like being drained into a sink hole.

The thing I've realized with meditation is that you should discover what works for you. Play around, experiment, do what seems to help and discard what doesn't.

Have fun! Smile

I swear by this.

The 'high pitched frequency and/or tone'.

I start out just as many others.

Quiet space, back straight, hands in lap together palms up, no music.

As you begin to relax, the easiest way down is to focus on your breathing. I'm sure you've heard that already, and I'm sure you've heard how to go down your body relaxing each piece.

You probably haven't been told to listen for the high pitch frequency. Find it. It's there. Once you find it, the goal is to raise its volume or intensity. Then the goal is to bring that sound from whichever side it's on, and bring it to the middle of the brain so that you're hearing it with 'both your ears'.

You can get crazy sensations from harmonic vibrations when you do this.

One thing I've learned about meditation is that there are several different ways of several different combinations of several different techniques you can use to achieve...several different things.

I'm not even sure what this frequency is supposed to do. I did not learn it from a yogi, I simply discovered that it was a fantastic way to shut out or completely forget about my jabbering mind. 'Working with' these frequencies/tones, is an easy way to silence your 'monkey-brain'. I've achieved some pretty profound states using this method, and I know I've only barely scratched the surface.

Try it and lemme know what you think Thumbs up

I don't know what tech its called but I can astro travel with this anywhere.

Start with breathing, do it slow and steady to reduce heart rate. As chattering thoughts work its way into the brain just observe them don't dive into them let them come and go. As you observe them say to yourself "O well, Peace..." Try to cut out any language that can be interpreted through your thoughts. After about 5-10 min, im sitting in a dark void with no thoughts, just at peace. Then im centered then decide to leave my body. I imagine floating up in the position I initiated my trance into, after I look down to see myself sitting very comfortably, its a checkpoint for me I guess lol and go wherever I want, through walls, ceilings, even outer space, anywhere. Great success with this, the trick is to cut out all day to day thoughts I guess IMO. Also just to add, try it in the shower, let the water run down, it acts as a catalyst for my experiences, water tone? Feeling? Idk but it aids it pretty well.

Best of luck! Try them all to see what works best I tried the high pitched tone from adjart but I don't get very much success but I can tell it works as well, just not, as well for me, lolSmileThumbs up

I like to hum, say om, or whatever tones come out really... many kinds of vocalization can massively aid me in meditation, especially the early stages of quieting the chatter and centering myself-but it's not limited to that.

I practice a combination of techniques:

Bodhicitta meditation
Phowa meditation
Tantra techniques (Vajrayana)
Mindfulness meditation

Each day I try to make progress in strengthening my practice and techniques, I have found through my practice that patience and dedication are key. Pleased
