You will need:

1 metal pipe with screw on cap.

1 chore boy scourer(maybe there are other options [perhaps even ceramic disk?])

A bunch of screens.

And a torch to clean up the choreboy.

So take a screen and some kind of pokey object,
Use the object to stretch open one hole in the screen, not in the center.
Do this four times, then you will use a length of copper which you will cut in half and run those two threads through one hole and out the opposite one.

Then cut some scrubber and make sure it fits in the cap nicely.
Then take it out.

Take your weird copper and screen object an wind up the copper threads and stick it through the hole then put a different screen in the hole and then put the scrubber in the hole and then pull the wound up copper thread in order to tighten the whole apparatus.

Push the screen in and pull the copper thread tight and then tie the copper thread around the circular thread thing around the circumference of the cap.

Pros:
Inexpensive
Effective
Small
Durable

Cons:
Heats up
More complicated to use a torch
You inhale more butane (I believe)
Hotter vapor
It isn't particularly elegant
If you aren't careful you will smoke whatever's in there

Tips:

Use a regular bic lighter
Watch the geometry of the flame,
Start with a nice round curve and not let the tip touch the screen.
Gently inhale harder and notice which curve is the sweet spot in terms of the geometry of the flame.
Don't touch that pipe after using it!

By the way,

Since since making this I haven't any alkaloids to attempt smoalking so I can't report any success vaping spice.

I have very effectively vaporized various herbs including MJ though.

If anyone has success to report smoalking alks please let us know.

Thanks for the report. I think I might have to try that.

Eventually I lost the cap for this, so I soon discovered vaping can be done easily by just packing a piece of choreboy on top of a bowl and hitting it with a torch. Nice thick piece of copper so you have a good thermal buffer.

Use a regular bic lighter

Pipe looks good!

But i prefere a jet lighter because a bic lighter can leave too much black soot in bowl and stem and in your lungs..
Below is photo of my hardware store vaporizing waterpipe..
May have costed 7 to 10 dollars..
Chore boy is good but I use stainless steel ..[volcano wet pad].. instead of chore boy

Lol rad piece,

Yeah I have been using a jet lighter too, holding the piece sideways and torching the pad.

I snagged one of these when I was in a bind. In fact, exactly that one in OP's picture.

I can confirm it gets SUPER hot, and produces a very hot toke. I didn't particularly care for how short it was and focusing that close to my face seemed the be just inside the comfort zone. It does work nicely when a choreboy is jammed in there.

The way these things are built though is what ultimately led to me getting rid of it. The mouth piece screws into the pipe chamber which is what holds the anodized aluminium cover in place. The mouthpiece constricts the airflow and gets VERY hot, VERY quickly. One three separate occasions I burned my lips. Once bad enough that the top lip blistered. This lead to me 'choking up' on the pipe more bringing it (and the flame) even closer to my face.

I picked mine up at this little asian store in the mall for $6.95. And while it served me until I could get a replacement, it is not something I would recommend anyone use with any seriousness.

Conclusion: Avoid
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Take the third hit
Then youuu....

As the saying goes: you get what you pay for Wink

Changa in the bonga!

Edit: also if you could somehow replace the lead (as in follow the leader) pipe with a longer one, it would be an extremely cheap vaporizer worth having around.
