Forget the ancient world I would say. They did not treat their fellow human beings in a very respectful, loving or caring manner.
You want to be listened to, to be heard?
You know you are an adult who more likely than not has been to hell and back at least once. . .? You know you deserve to be addressed with respect, and not be addressed as a child or an animal? AND you want to improve things a bit, maybe step off the Wheel for a moment?
How about you treat and address those who are different from you, different ethnicity, religion, gender, ways of loving, whatever, address them with the same respect that you know YOU deserve?
Sound novel? Well, in practice it is. You ever address a homeless man as Sir? No? Give it a try I say. It is what the Christians call The Golden Rule. Almost everyone says they practice it when in fact almost no do. Myself included, of course.
So, give it a try and brace yourself. There will be a number who do not care, nor will they listen. But I promise it will not take long to get a rather extreme response, such as the homeless gentleman referenced above, crying.
Never forget when hate and even worse, ignorance feels like the easy path, that every single person out there, be they like you or not, has the same depth of thoughts, feelings, loves, concerns as you do. Never forget this, and I will bet that your path in life will not only be smoother, but that you will be directly working to create a better future for all of humanity.
Yep, we are all one thing, . . . and that is human.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."-Rick Doblin, Ph.D. MAPS President, MAPS Bulletin Vol. XX, No. 1, pg. 2Hyperspace LOVES YOU
