Hello. One of my reasons for creating a username for this forum is because I have put together a training program for myself that I am going to have some of the elders in the community give me guidance throughout the process. Here is a list and short description of what is involved in the Shamanic Practitioner Training that I am currently undergoing.

Shamanic Practitioner Training

Reading:
The Way of the Shaman – Michael Harner
The Hollow Bone: A Field Guide to Shamanism
Shaman, Healer, Sage: How to Heal Yourself and Others with the Energy Medicine of the Americas

Sacred Drumming – Steven Ash

Documentaries:
Manifesting the Mind: Footprints of the Shaman
Entheogen: Awakening the Divine Within
DMT: The Spirit Molecule
Shamans among Machines - Terence McKenna
Shamans of the Amazon

Drumming:

Drum circles (up to 3 hours)

Experience:

Drumming (10 hours)

Papers:
Book review – 1 page review of one book
Audiovisual review – 1 page review of documentary
Ceremony outline
Reflection upon journey - 1 page
Mystic, Shamanic, and Yogic Healing: pluralism - paper focusing on similarities between the practices of mysticism, shamanism, and Yoga.
Shamanic tools guide - list with short description of tools associated with shamanic work

***

Helpful feedback is welcomed. Are you familiar with any of the books, documentaries that I have listed? Do you have a book, documentary recommendation for me?

From all the various sources I have studied, a shaman does not become a shaman or shamanic practitioner through training or even guidance under a master teacher (even though it is very beneficial), one can only become a shaman through experience and practice.

I have just finished this book:

The Shamanic Path to Quantum Consciousness: The Eight Circuits of Creative Power

It helps to have a little background in the 8 circuit model of consciousness via books like Prometheus Rising, Angel Tech, etc., but it is not absolutely needed. This book is really something else entirely, and I expect I will be reading it over and over again. This book helps tie together so many disparate fields. Not reviewed by many on Amazon, but IMO it is sort of like an undiscovered gem.

Aside from that I also am starting to get into Sandra Ingerman, can't go wrong with her material it seems.
