Hi!! im recently learning the Dos an donts of the spice in regards to alchemy....

Since I dont have big crystal containers (2 of them broke on heath bath) ly really dont like to end with a lot of base aquous material...recently did a CYB max ion salt tek.... but the water base layer is just too much liquid, since my largest containers broke i had to use 3 smaller containers to hold that slurry...

my question is if the basic layer can be evaporated via fan or cooking to reduce volume??? mabe to make a NAOH slurry like q21's tek?? it looks like a charm

i'd just buy a new jar!

cheap, less messy, and probably much more efficient.

make it easy on yourself!

If you're learning the do's and dont's, then heed this. NaOH, or Sodium Hydroxide, or Lye, is extremely caustic & extremely reactive with metals. It will eat through aluminum like hot butter & can also eat away at other coatings used on cookware(was a professional cook for a large part of my life). Never ever should Lye be used in combination with metal, unless that metal is stainless steel & it is a spoon you are using to stir your NaOH solution in a GLASS jar. Separating into smaller jars is perfectly fine, I plan to split my next batch into two jars for easier decanting later on (have small jars too). The only thing is that you need to be sure to split your solvent between your containers, don't flood them all with the amount the recipe calls for, split it three ways just like your aqueous phase was split three ways. Or else you're going to wind up with quite a bit of evaporation to do.

The best option here is to split it, or buy a new(bigger) jar. Don't mess around with Lye & metal, it isn't worth the risk.

Also, NaOH solution + Excessive heat = Never ending corrosive bubble fountain. It will foam up something serious and continue to do so for minutes after it is removed from the heat.

Really you don't need that, I've been there.

A room temperature evap would be fine if you have a safe place to do so + patience, but it will take a long time.

Boiling basic soup will destroy heat.
