Hello people,

I'm new to the nexus Big grin I've been a shadow for nearly a year and thought it time I sign in and join the community!
I'm still chalking up my introduction essay so not much on me as yet but watch this hyperspace. (Ha, first two sentences of my very first post and already a terrible pun! Apologies Embarrased

A bit of a confession, a question and a bit of a personal goal...

I'm completely green, pun regretfully intended, again... Apparently there's a bit of A. Acuminata and A. Burkitii around my ways however, I'm not quite at the stage of confidently identifying acacia's, let alone knowing what to safely do with one's matter once found- yet

My intentions are to grow my own plants to make my jam but only once I have more knowledge and respect for these life forms.

Recently I read about a little known Acacia: A. Kalgoorliensis. It grows near me but can't find ANY info on potential alkaloid content/levels. Does anyone know anything of this relatively quiet little guy?

I'm getting a strong 'impression' that perhaps this should be my field of contribution to the community. I just don't really know how I should start. There's no one i know of near me with these same interests so i'm anticipating a solo endeavor. Any help/info/encouragement would be received with open arms and mind.

I look forward to years of service and growth and your replies! Thumbs up

Hi myownsummer

I'm a newbie too.

Like you I want a little garden of my own and the time and space to decide what to do with plants I grow. I'm very taken by the idea of respecting the plants and, for me, its almost as though the journey of nurturing and growing a few plants over the next few years is more of a prize than using them.

Allegedly, there is an abundance of acacia in my neighborhood too. So Ive started to learn how to identify them. I went to the wiki and the first line was:

"The leaves of acacias are compound pinnate in general."

I had no idea what that meant because im really new to all this stuff. But after a little research I learnt what 'pinnate' meant and what 'compount pinnate' would mean and now every time Im outside with my partner Im pointing out trees and shrubs which are evenly pinnate or oddly pinnate. Its fun.

there's a great thread on acacias here:

All the best
