I take one table spoon a night, would that be average, or high? I know it may depend of a strain of Kava, but just for ilustrative purpose what are the amounts you talk about.Thank
Jox

1 tbsp is low and safe and should only be said as average or daily. I specifically have only used kava from vanuatu which in most cases is the strongest strain of kava. Being the oldest, wisest and remote place from which kava originates.

Ime, kava is powerful at doses of 6 tbsp. But again, this is true kava I speak of and how my body operates. Other strains will vary. So in your case, more may be needed to sufficiently reach a powerful level of experience, or less.

Personally, I wouldn't go beyond 6 tbsp with strictly kava root powder. However, a concentrated paste may prove worthy to reach those higher dosages without the negative effects occurring so fast.

I agree, and I believe I gain the most from those weekly high dose experiences and never had a problem from it even if I do dose a shell every night and then dose big on the weekends. Ive recently gotten into the instant powder and it is a nice surprise. 2 tsp of the instant and it is like a solid low dose, enough to do its muscle relaxation and joint curing powers to me and get me ready for bed.

Wow, that would be a hefty dose if using certain strrains. But potency really, really varies.
I usually go with 2 tablespoons, but with my first batch this would have led to horrible Sideeffects. So work your way up.

I think kava has a ton to do with how your body reacts to it, its one of the widest ranges of user results imo and I dont meet any of them it just works perfectly with my body and mind and ive only ever had bad side effects from crap extracts or crap root. My minimum dose even is 4 tbsp and i would moar then likely drink that and then go and run the same root again for another batch the same night.

Your welcome! Honestly, I wish it were. Would really enjoy experiencing pulling the root out and making some beverage with that. Pleased

My climate may be a little too rough for piper methysticum. Has anyone else grown this divine plant?

Yes.. I've had some very close to entheogenic states with kava itself. Starting low is always good measure because it can be non-tolerable for some people.

Definitely! I view the same idea.. everyone is different.

Ive def. had entheogenic states with kava and drinking all night long laying watching the stars. Its always been so entwined with anti anxiety and so ive always had it remind me of a benzo but it has this crazy other spirtual down to earth vibe along with it, and ive always tried to think of a benzo that is was comparable to but even that aspect of it I cant even come close to pin pointing a certain type of benzo to the effects.

Yes.. it can be very unique. During my high dose kava experience, I experienced something very close to levitation-like sensations. Certainly it does calm the reality you perceive.. on a deeper scale, though. Kava is profound in its effects and is like nothing else, really. Nature has the greatest medicines.

Do you find any other psychoactive principales mix well / synergize with kava itself?

That's good. I find kava to be best in its purity, too. I've tried cannabis smoking with kava but with no synergy. However, ancient texts suggest otherwise. Many local polynesians and shamans would mix tobacco smoking with kava rituals. This I'd like to try. It makes sense they would consume both of these together since both plants have similar yet distinct, inebriating qualities with higher dosages. This is how many polynesians evolved with kava.. by mixing it with tobacco smoking. To honor its presence with direct communication. Usually coconut, too.

I shall report in time.

lol I started reading this and thin thinking how it is nice to smoke tobacco after I have drank half my kava or so, I also remember reading about how some of them would pour whole shells on the ground to give some kava to the gods to drink so I used to always poor some kava on the ground for the gods when I was drinking it.

Sacred moments with that. I'm just slowly coming down from 4 tbsp mixed with elder tobacco smoking. Quite synergistic I'd say.. much more energy and stimulation. The usual sociability and relaxation, too. If I had enough kava left, I would agree to pouring some kava on the ground for sacred purposes.

I'll have to make the best remains I have to the best of my ability.

Yea certain strains have a lot moar energy and stimulation to them and are great for just drinking throughout the day and getting things done. The traditional people had those strains to drink and work in the kava fields all day if I remember correctly.

I recall watching a documentary about the overall aspects of kava and how sacred it is to many polynesian cultures before / during and after work. It helped them focus clearly and remain calm and relaxed while still being able to perform duties and plans.

Found it

Really cool pictures and information on different settlements in vanuatu. In a few photos some are intoxicated on kava and dancing / meditating.. while others are holding the plants in joy.

Quote:
Settlement in the 85 Vanuatu islands dates back to around 500 BC. There is evidence that Melanesian navigators from Papua New Guinea were the first to colonise Vanuatu. Over centuries, other migrations followed. Nowadays, all the inhabited islands have their own languages, customs and traditions.

Quote:
Many Vanuatu believe that wealth can be obtained through ceremonies. Dance is an important part of their culture; many villages have dancing grounds called Nasara. A significant traditional event is the Toka festival on Tanna Island, a symbol of alliance and friendship between different tribes.

Hey there,

I was on the kavaforums for about a year, and actually how I found out about the Nexus as my first night on the chat yielded a visit from a handful of people from The Nexus and I had no idea what The Nexus was at the time. This has never happened before or sense claim the people from kavaforums and I cannot imagine the coincidence of the event occurring.. Smile

Good to see Lebot referenced. An individual closely tied to kava recently visited Lebot in Vanuatu and here is what he's working on:

Dr. Vincent Lebot recommends against drinking tuday kava

Dr. Vincent Lebot explains a simple qualitative type-test for determing noble kava strains

Dr. Vincent Lebot: Scientific evidence does not support claims of kava hepatoxicity

Edit: Attached a good resource if anyone wants to sneak a peek
What is language?
