Good suggestions. BecomeTheOther, feel free to start pulling together ideas. What I'm thinking is get the vocal track recorded, then Guyomech (if he's game) can put together some visuals, and then we thread the music around that. Sound like a plan? Also, any suggestions on people who could supply the voice? Great stuff, Snozzle. What sort of voice do you have? Personally, I have a deep, bassy, and very British male voice which, while great for radio and making throwback jokes to the day of the Empire, may not lend itself perfectly for what I have in mind Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! I wonder if it should be specified what one is on...
Change of a location on some trips is totally impossible, when on heavy pharma or mushrooms, I can't even move around the bed let alone change the room.
Also the consciousness goes in and out, and maybe just few words here and there can be enough.
Visualisations don't make sense for visual plants, one is already lost in visuals how can it be possible to visualise on top of that.
Again I am talking only for pharma and mushrooms level 4 5 trips.

Indeed Jox, but for LSD for example or mushroom trips a bit less intense, it's still possible to have bad trips and focusing the attention of the tripper with some soothing visuals might help ease the whole thing. If the trips are very heavy I doubt the people will be able to even put on a video like this. I know a female psychedelic/shamanic singer who would probably love to do the voice part. We could try out a number of people including members here and then just go with what is the most calming and fits best. I tend to think a female voice would be best though. I don't think it'd really need many visuals, just images or video of nature ideally, but that's just me. Nature is very grounding for me, especially if I'm tripping inside and in a rough one. Maybe someone here who lives near a stream or catches a sunset can take a nice video if they have good equipment.

I could get some shots from the ocean, palmtrees, sunset, birds... I'll have to ask my friends if they can lend me their GoPro... Might take some time though, I'm quite swamped with work atm. Soothing music can be very helpful, but i think we can go a little further and recommend to sing/chant, especially something like a Mantra, in combination with meditation. Its a littlebit special and might not work with everybody, but when it does its very powerful (coming from personal experience). Something like this could be linked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq-CKdT6IG4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D58pigO5Dighttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q41RDC4iqvc

You can hear some mediocre quality audio of it on the video of the Nexus' research presentation I gave at MAPS Psychedelic Science 2013. That said, there is an over-representation of men in all things psychedelic. Perhaps it would be a good thing to use a woman's voice instead? I'd like to hear UC's suggestion. There are also a couple members here worth asking.
I think it's probably wise to stay away from visuals that are overwhelmingly trippy/ transcendental... Maybe just a touch, as long as the imagery is warm and centering (mandalas etc). Waterfalls... Anyone here in Oregon? It's overrun with amazing waterfalls there.
I thought it might be nice to start with a single candle burning, maybe a soft, womb-colored mandala around it. Soothing music, possibly starting with a guitar, sitar, etc. ...after a few moments the voice begins.
Let's assume that this will be a full HD production (1920x1080pixels) so any source material you collect, try to keep that in mind. Anyone who has any material for this, please PM me so I can provide the FTP info.

I think the atmospheric music would be better than any kind of chanting. Just because chanting mantras does kind of lend itself to a set of beliefs which I think we want to stay away from so that anyone regardless of belief can benefit from it. The chanting could be useful for another video though like using psychedelics for consciousness exploration. This one is to calm someone having a difficult time though. And while many of us here at the nexus could certainly appreciate those things, maybe a novice psychedelic user who is having a hard time and comes across our video might be distracted or turned off by the chants. You have never been apart from me. You can never depart and never return, for we are continuous, indistinguishable. We are eternal forever

On the subject of voice, we did originally start out discussing getting in a soft and reassuring female voice for the video as the thinking was that this would be more soothing than a male barging into it. I definitely think we should see if we can explore that option fully before we hand it over to the men, although it's great to see we have that option, so many thanks SnozzleBerry Jox, I'm thinking we should keep it unisex in terms of which substance they are on. On some trips, some people can even forget what drug they are on, and it might panic someone if they come looking for 25i advice and think, for whatever reason, that this video doesn't apply because we've chosen to chase shrooms or lucy. And while trips can be different in intensity/length/visuals/body high/etc dependent on the substance ingested, they are essentially similar enough in effect for us to bung them together, IMO And true, people may not want to move around on a high dose. But then, they definitely won't be thinking about reaching out for help in that state, and I'm thinking we focus on providing help for people who will be functional enough to reach out. Perhaps if we nail this video correctly, we can follow up with similar harm reduction projects which can specialise on the effects of different substances, how to avoid bad trips for sober people researching, and why you should and why you shouldn't take a high dose, and what to expect if you do. Ryusaki, I like the idea of chanting, but as you said, it doesn't work for everybody. I think we should keep it as user-friendly as possible, so calming mood and visuals which a focus on the voice. Going back to what I said to Jox, perhaps we can do another future on trip meditation in the future, and perhaps offer the link up on this video so people can opt into it once this video (ideally) calms them down? The more people suggest the calming videos of nature, the more I like the idea. I'm not sure we need too much movement, or anything that's going to draw people in more than the voice, but hey. Definitely come a long way in the development of the visuals than my idea of a kinect-led animation Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! Sounds like this is all coming together nicely! I live in a place with some incredible views of nature, but unfortunately I don't have a video camera that shoots in HD. If anyone would like to loan out their expensive HD camera so that I can run around in the woods with it, get ahold of me. Very excited to see this project come to fruition!

I find that ..[on the come up].. and further into trip ..[that singing to yourself].. [a nice little tune][similar to ..[we all live in a yellow submarine] ..can keep your attitude more positive.. after all you will be back to baseline in a matter of minutes.. just enjoy the freedom..

Ha! I do keep Yellow Submarine and The Beatles in general on standby during a trip That said, the same rule of thumb about chanting also applies to singing to yourself - it won't work for everybody. We can lead a song, but people might not know it. Or they might just be too terrified for a singalong. Or maybe they have anxiety about singing! And yeah, it's coming along nicely, Entheo! You can thank Mescalito for providing the idea yourself when you see him/her/it Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! I like those ideas a lot The person I had in mind was Drea Drury (now goes by Anilah), a canadian singer/sound therapist. Some background: http://solpurpose.com/20...03/13/warrior-by-anilah/I've only spoken with her a handful of times and I'm not 100% positive she would do it, but it wouldn't hurt to ask

Great ideas. This could be a helpful video that you can come back to whenever you are feeling frightened. I really hope this becomes something popular.

Interesting suggestion UC, I was going to contact Simon Haiduk (Anilah's ex, he did the video portion of Calling The Others) to ask about her, but I decided not to when you said you already had someone in mind.
What are the odds, eh?
