It's no secret that DMT has extreme healing benefits, but most information about it focuses on oral consumption, whether it be an Ayahuasca analog or capsuled pure alkaloids. I have recently started working with Changa and have developed a ceremonial/ritual type method of use to maximize healing and growth of the mind, body and spirit.
WHAT IS CHANGA?
Changa is one of the many routes of administration of NN-DMT. It is a wonderful discovery made by an Australian using Acacia Obtusifolia as the source of DMT. Since then, Changa has grown rapidly in popularity and it's really no wonder why. Changa is composed of three components; NN-Dimethyltryptamine,Harmala alkaloids such as Harmaline, Harmine, and Harmalol, and a choice of organic plant matter to fit your fancy. This is NOT to be confused with enhanced leaf, which is DMT infused into herbs, with the absence of Harmalas.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN BLEND
Making Changa is a relatively simple process. I will use the process I go through as an example. First, weigh out a gram of DMT, and put it in a measuring shot glass. Next, take your freebase Harmala alkaloids (bought or extracted from B. Caapi or Syrian rue) and weigh out a gram. Put this in the shot glass with the DMT and add about 20 to 30ml of Acetone (Or IPA.. Your choice) Swirl this around to dissolve all the alkaloids. Next, take a gram of herbs of your choice and put them in a pyrex dish with one end propped up so all the herbs fall down to one side. Pour your alkaloid saturated solution over them and make sure it's mixed thouroughly. You can let it evaporate on its own, but I prefer to stick it in front of a fan and have it done relatively fast. It's that easy! You just made Changa!
WHY USE CHANGA FOR HEALING INSTEAD OF FREEBASE?
Now, to make this clear, pure freebase DMT CAN be quite a healing experience. However, for deep exploration, and a more personal, comprehensive experience, Changa is much more useful. The reason for this is the addition of the Harmala alkaloids to the blend As I'm sure you all know, Harmalas contain natural Monoamine Oxidase inhibitors. The inhibition of this enzyme allows for a longer experience, a wider frame of administration, the ability to stay at any level for an extended period of time, and in a sense, helps ground you to help the experience be more integral.
HOW TO USE CHANGA FOR HEALING AND PERSONAL GROWTH
Before I start, I need to say that this is the way I personally work with Changa. I'm not saying this is THE way or that it is better than anyone else's method. This method has just worked best for me in terms of healing deep emotional trauma and a frozen heart. Setting: Choose a comfortable, relaxing spot where you won't be disturbed for an hour or more. I use my bedroom, and smudge the entire area while listening to/singing Icaros. I resonate with Shamanism more than any other religion, so these work best for me. Any music that connects with you spiritually is great. I've used some kirtan songs before and those put me in just as meditative of a state.
Preparing the dose: There are many ways to smoke changa, but I prefer to use a bong that is about 18 inches tall. Fill the bowl with your blend, and sit down and clear your mind for a few minutes. State your intention of the journey and what you would like to work on very clearly. Project the feeling of what you're seeking into hyperspace! Feel that you are going to be healed. When you're ready and the area you will be journeying is set up the way you want it, you can begin. Step 1: Opening up the gates.
To start off my changa session, I begin with one large hit from my bong held in for about ten seconds. I then sit/lay back and wait for it to begin. The come-up is slowed down and much more comfortable than freebase, and sub-breakthrough doses aren't nearly as grueling. I experience this hit with my eyes open, as for some reason the harmalas kind of interfere with my CEV's when I first start. The room will change into incredible patterns, colors, and maybe even to a new place... it all depends on how big your hit was. Once you feel yourself coming down a little bit, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Going a little deeper.
As you start coming down from the first dose, Take another small to medium hit. This SHOULD take you from where you were, to a much more intense, and powerful experience. For me, I still am not at a breakthrough at this particular point in time, but I'm not just getting my feet wet either. It's almost as if I'm up to my neck in water. I prefer to keep my eyes open as the beings will come out of my walls and start swirling around me showing me and telling me things that need to be done in order to grow as a person. A lot of the time with changa, I encounter very motherly beings that really, really love me and want to help me. They show me what I need to do without being too forceful. When the effects from this dose start wearing off, It's time to go deep.
Step 3: Head for the light.
Okay, this is where you will reach the peak of the entire experience and enter the deepest parts of hyperspace. What I do at this point, is load a little more Changa on top of the bowl, and take two massive hits of it, lay back, and close my eyes this time. This usually sends me directly into hyperspace, and for quite some time.... about 15 minutes of complete disconnection with this reality. This is the part of the experience where I have recieved some of the most life changing insights and had some of the most emotional, beautiful experiences I've ever had.
I use changa like this because it has turned the 5 minute "WTF?!" of freebase into an hour long (or more if you want) life changing, deep, personal experience with many different levels to explore and become familiar with. The slow build up to the breakthrough helps my recall of the experience a lot, and makes me feel like it's more about myself than just beings showing me tricks. Changa has literally healed a hole in my heart and brought my emotions back when I thought they were totally buried. One more thing, the afterglow from a Changa session is absoultely incredible. I feel SO alive.... Like everything is perfect. Usually the only thing I can do is call someone I love to tell them. I'm sorry for the long post everyone but I really felt like I needed to do this and share my method of journeying. I really hope some of you will try it and have as positive of results as I do. Love and light to you all!!!!

It makes me happy to see that others treat changa with the same love and respect that I feel for it. I personally started working with changa blends after my trip to the amazon to drink ayahuasca. i really wanted to continue working with mother aya, but im still young and want a little more experience before working with the brew itself on my own. I originally started with adding just caapi with other herbs, and this did create an amazingly wonderful way to work with the plants, however just recently ive created new changa batches. i took 20 gram each of white, yellow, and black caapi (seperately)and soaked them in IPA for two full moon cycles, straining the caapi and then evapoating on one gram of each of the caapi to create a theoretical 20x caapi blends.I go by the idea that white and yellow vines are supposed to be more gentle, and black being the most powerful. my hopes was to create a more vine heavy blend similar to aya and to increase the MAOI. I must say with these new additions to the blends have created a whole new level of experience from the original batches. I try to make my changa ceremonies as close to my ayahuasca cermonies while adding a bit of new techniques along the way , and im really loving the learning process of creating my own ceremonies, and obviously changa can be much less demanding as a full ayahuasca ceremonies while still holding the powerful spiritually healing aspects. My cousin whom I made a small batch for just called me a few days ago to tell mme how powerful of an experience he had just had with his new blend, he said the messages and entities where so clear, even more so than his experiences with the brew, and this state lasted for 20 mins solid of complete breakthrough. Im so happy to see this evolution of the medicine and hope many others quickly hop on board with this new "technology" of the sacred. Love and light to you brother thank you for sharing this

I'm also finding that creating my own ceremonies is an amazing part of this lifestyle. I did my first two today on a few friends of mine and we did it together and i helped them be comfortable and almost acted as a guide. I've never felt such a sense of accomplishment and an understanding of "doing the right thing for you" in my entire life. Introducing someone to DMT and changing their life is absolutely exhilarating.

I absolutely agree not only is it a blessing to have the abilty to experience the light, but to be able to comfortably carry frends with you and learn together is one of the greatest blessings of all. Put as much love and intention as you can, and it will be returned tenfold.

It gives me more of a sense of purpose than anything in my life. I know my reason for being on earth is to help people see more clearly and improve their lives with entheogens. I really want to somehow connect this with a career but I'm struggling to figure out what to do!

If the scheduling of psychedelics ever changes and becomes available for psychiatric use, I'll be enrolling in psychiatry school in an instant

WOW! The way you laid this out really got me excited! I always thought changa was a lot more difficult process than just doing it freebase, reading this as changed my mind and now I'm gong to make the steps to try this out! Thank you for the stimulating post! >>>> Going through HyperSpace!! >>>> http://i.imgur.com/koLjP.gif <<<<

Thank you for the information. I was wondering what changa is. This might be a silly question but can you drink or ingest an MAOI and have extended effects from freebasing DMT?

My favourite recipie uses 1 part spice, .75 mullein, and .25 challiponga leaves and half shot of 3x3 brewed aya for the cappi harmine . Addition of the aya makes the changa take up to three days to dry without heat but it is worth it. A touch of absynth makes a tasty addition. Also, same aya mix with just mullein and chali - no spice - makes lovely smoking material for mushroom peaks. Always use green fluffy mullein , not the powdered crap in health food stores.

I feel much more comfortable brewing the cappi myself rather than buying extract as that men's you've put 9hrs of your attention and intention into the changa as you would a full aya dose. The one time I ordered off a reputable vendor I'm sure they mixed up rue extract by mistake .... Ruined the batch for me as I went used to the rue and it was way less forgiving and gentle

To pueo YES and I ABSOLUTELY reccomend it but only If you think you can handle it. A few changa hits on top of oral harmalas will send upu to hyperspace for quite a long time.

And awooga, I order freebase harmalas from my mimosa vendor that are extracted from red caapi.... makes all my changa a deep red I like to use a lot of harmala in my changa because my favorite thing about it is how long it lasts when you take periodic hits. I've had a couple 2 hour long trips (with only one breakthrough at about an hour in) and I find the sub breakthrough doses and trip post breakthrough are amazing. I've watched myself turn into a reptilian type being with scales racing through my body like snakes. I've also experienced female energies, snakes, dragons and jaguars. I can feel the spirit of ayahuasca the entire time.

Thank you Tyler! Next time i make an order i'm ordering some Caapi. Or do you suggest Syrian Rue more? You've got me really excited to try it, although i won't be ordering anytime soon, because i have a pretty expensive order list from that website already, and want to order everything all at once, GVG, scale, torch lighter, and glass foam pellet, and now i'll ad Caapi to that list as well, but i can nearly wait. Going in for over two hours sounds amazing! "Be Here Now" โThe Universe is worked and guided from within outwards.โ

I would suggest getting some per extracted freebase harmalas. I order mine whenever I order my mimosa. The vendor makers it out of red caapi I don't use caapi in my herbal blend itself. Right now the blend I have is mullein, mugwort, lemon vernada, and chamomile flowers. The harmalas from the red caapi give my changa a beautiful deep red color

Ya know, I'm thinking about getting a GVG today..... I love my bong for changa but if the gvg works for it as well I might have to see what all the hype is about.

I think the GVG works better for freebase and the bong best for Changa, as far as i know, i've just read this, but it should work both ways. I'm also pretty curious about the GVG, at the moment i have a regular VG and i can't seem to get everything in at once, that's just me, it works perfectly for other people, even after 5 tokes there's still plenty left in my lavender mix to launch from. It might be because i don't use a torch lighter, but i'm not sure, i pretty much tried everything now. Succes Tyler! "Be Here Now" โThe Universe is worked and guided from within outwards.โ

I have also developed my own ritualised usage. I find that daytime experiences are my preference, there is just such a heavenly light that pervades all at the end of the experience. I set up a meditation tent, with power plants surrounding, and use a particular incense. I meditate and chant for at least half an hour to prepare myself. This is a solo experience for best results. Changa is good for shared experiences too. My blend is obtusifolia extract, Mullein, pau d'arco extract, esphand derived harmala, and salvia "mystic spires" flowers.
