Sadly, if you watch, a young talented rapper and father was mercilessly beaten to death with brass knuckles for money to buy drugs (apparently, though cops and DA's are sketchy-ass white men, so I sometimes barely even believe the basics of stories in cases like this, however, I digress.
Any time a "new" drug comes around (according to news accounts) comes about because suddenly someone passes away within a period of time in which a person has ingested a chemical that loosely connects the death to it. The issue was, as the video shows, his LAST tweet apparently says he's going to smoke DMT that night. Who knows if he did, like, who knows if these kids invited him to do it and then beat him to death.
So, because he tweeted about DMT, and then 3 teenagers in a completely unrelated occurrence beat him and either pushed or caused in a panic the victim to exit the moving vehicle (on an interstate), and then, callously, the teens actually stopped, walked to his probably still living body, stripped him of clothing, and then stole his money, leaving him on the side of a highway to die of being beaten in the face with brass knuckles and disregarded as a lifeless nothing.
My main beef is the fact that this type of thing happens so often, and in my contact with the story, what have I gained? I have gained no new information, because, as is my main point:
A tweet about a chemical that news casters call "mostly unknown" might have connected a man I never would have heard otherwise to a story more news worthy than a father and artist being beaten to death for cocaine money.
Because being beaten to death for cocaine money by other teenagers isn't a big deal.
And, people would wonder why someone would ingest a chemical that allows them to break free of this mortal coil for long enough to sit directly in the warmth of a time between life and death. Because this physical world is a dangerous, feelingless place filled with horrible instances of humans constantly, without regard for the life that they assault and extinguish.
People, not just one person, statistically have been murdered and raped within the time you have read this post. Time ticking means someone has become so completely out of touch with social ethics that they look at another living being as a means to very short-term gain. No thought to their children, the lives that they affect every day, or even the sheer terror, the unfathomable horror of realizing, in a mere moment, that they are being being betrayed and that their life will shortly be ended by massive amounts of physical violence.
It's enough to make one break down and hate, but I forgive the people who do these things, as they, like you and me, regardless of their actions, are not evil, but it is impossible to not feel hurt personally just because I'm a human, a grown man who knows that 19 is still but a baby. The choices seem easy, but to be that ready to exist in adulthood, to have a child who is only 10 months old, and to realize that you are going to die at the hands of some, ultimately, punk asses who just never had a chance because they were raised in a violent world that probably stripped them of morality in their own horrific, yet ubiquitous and common, moments of either emotional neglect, or infliction of trespass.
It's all just confusing and desperately sad.
