From the Soto Zen point of view, which I believe he was referring to when he made this quote, it means that you no longer need to use the tool to find out that you were already in the "enlightened" state all along, and if you keep using the tools then you might end up in a state of delusion about needing to obtain something you already have without needing any tools.

I personally think that I could go on with my life without ever using DMT or LSD ever again, and instead use zen tools exclusively, but I like using these other tools to shut off my ego-mind and fall back into that Buddha-mind state because I already know how to do it without the tools, and it's interesting. I've also started to help others see "the way" using these tools (well mostly LSD) and experiences in nature using koans.

Thanks for posing the question. If there is one thing I've learned in only two trips to hyperspace it's that the messages, if you will, that I receive do not need validation from other individuals. We are unique constructions of consciousness and what's good for the goose has nothing to do with the gander. I know for a fact that some people get to attached to the spice. I realize that hyperspace is real (at least as real as the physical); it doesn't go away. You occupy that same space in every waking moment because we are inter-dimensional beings. The brain receiver just isn't tuned to that frequency. The most important thing we can do is SIT in my opinion. Continue to open our awareness into the subtle worlds without relying exclusively on helpful chemical aids. I have received the same "message" and I know the truth for myself is that I do not ever need to take these drugs again in order to stay on the path to enlightenment -- but that doesn't mean I won't. Big grin

There are a lot of great perspectives on the topic. Mine is -
Hang up the phone if you want. It will still be there and you can pick it up again later.

To have a quote is to only to relate a piece of you that you have discovered through your experiences, it never gets the whole point across because its short and vauge, as with any and this one, and mine undernieth my post. It can be implied soo many different ways its irrelivent to keep dwelling on some if not all. You have a specifice feeling twards what you belive and its not a quote, but a feeling how things should be, it varies from person to person for sure and nobody is ever wrong with it. Besided, infinity IMO does exist, and time goes forever, even after the universe burns, what we are experiencing now is not but a mere fraction of a blink of an eye, and to learn everything in this life to know what is desired, will only confuse and trouble any human being for as long as we/they live. So, live in the moment, take what makes sense to you, even if you dont use substances to "accend" to knowlage. I use them and i have luck, others do not, go your own speed and dont beat yourself up trying to get it all you eventually will, time never stops.

If one kept using to find answers, there is no end, its a paradox that is not meant to be found out such is the beauty of life, and thats how we keep living, by striving for answers.
What if we all are right on our perspectives of reality, what if that is the big picture?

How boring if we knew everything?Confusedlol

Peace and Happiness fellow Nexians. Be well on your Journeys!Thumbs up
