GABA in supplement form doesn't pass the BBB very well, neither does piracetam for that matter. I've had piracetam, which needs "attack doses", probably to overcome this shortcoming. Piracetam, although loosely structurally-related to GABA, does not necessarily act on GABA receptors. Instead, it acts on the adjacent AMPA-1 receptors as an agonist, and is thus has an excitatory effect. Aniracetam has even higher affinity for AMPA-1 (though a shorter half-life), and is lipophilic, so it readily passes the BBB

There is a bit of research out there re: testosterone, serotonin and aggression. For me it's been an emotional lifesaver.

Will have to check out aniracetam though.

Do you mind me asking how long youve been taking it? Ive known about it for a while, some people use it as an anti-depressant. But ive heard heard using daily moderate doses could have a negative impact after a while. Would like to hear more from people that use it often. I just dont really trust doctors because they are to quick to push whatever the new BIGPHARM SSRI or whatever the fuck it is now.

I was taking 5-htp for awhile but switched to L-tryptophan recently. All in all I've been taking these for several months maybe more. I do, every once in awhile, take a few days off from everything. I have not found any adverse effects ever. They are amazing to help you regulate your attitude.

And does Tryptophan effect something else just than converting to 5-HTP ???
