First time i smoked Dmt out of a bong with a little tobacco (i hate tobacco, so wont be doing that again). First hit, body stoned. Second hit, as the air left my lungs i made a really odd groaning noise and basically fell into my seat unable to control my body.

I heard an intensifying hum matched with spinning colours and shapes. The shapes slowly turned into sugar skulls laughing and rotating and all interconnected. I opened my eyes once and after id closed them the skulls grew long thin skeletal hands and tried to claw at me and i got a real sense of anger for opening my eyes. They settled and then the colours next to them started to bulge like something was pushing through a placenta. I saw the bulge was a giant head looking at me at a 3/4 angle, as if inquisitive. Then i began to fall and i felt the head reach out to me as if to give a hug. THe skulls and the other being were saying things as i was leaving like dont worry, its ok, cya soon etc. and there was a lot of love. THen i came back.

Breakthrough? or another experience?

It would be completely impossible to asses whether or not you had experienced a breakthrough or not via your post. I always say, dont worry about the breakthrough, you'll know when it happens. Either way sounds like a nice experience. Def ditch the tobacco, many other ways you can smoke it using inactive herbs.

As anrchy said, don't worry about achieving a breakthrough and instead enjoy the things you experience on your trips. It sounds like any advice that you are going to hear but when you'll have a breakthrough, you'll know. Refine your vaping technique, meditate, don't make DMT your life and when you're ready you'll have one.
Each "layer" of breaking through will feel different and I'd say there are 5-6 layers until you reach that "one" point. I haven't been there myself yet but every layer will feel like a breathrough.

Watch The Spirit Molecule if you want to hear about breakthrough experiences and look around on the Nexus, it's full of wonderful trip reports.

TiHKAL, what do you mean about 'layers'? Can you tell a bit more? Smile

I think what TiHKAL meant was that it's not like there's just one kind of breakthrough, or one general level of intensity. Even once you've had many breakthroughs, and think that "this must be as far as it goes" you can often get even further where it's like that previous "level" to the second-power. These are exponential kinds of jumps we're dealing with. The intensity doesn't increase linearly.
