I may have the chance to do Ayahuasca with a Chaman in Peru very soon. I have not followed the dietary guidelines (especially heavy meat abstinence a week prior) I have also done a small amount of cocaine 2 days ago.
How crucial are the "guidelines" for Ayahuasca use? I understand that many of us here at the nexus have very very differing viewpoints on such experiences (medicine, drug, spirituality)sooooo....
All advice is welcome, thank you <333

Usually, the bold all caps calls for help are reserved for serious medical issues. Please refrain in the future. Many of us eat meat or just stick to normal dietary habits before drinking Aya. There is little danger. Be safe. "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." -A.Huxley

I have heard from multiple sources that the diet might not be as crucial as some people think. However, medicine/drug interactions are a completely different story. I don't know specifically the danger of dosing harmalas a few days after ingesting cocaine, but if I were you I would make absolutely sure that it is safe before drinking any aya.

No dietary restrictions are required to take Ayahuasca, there's little to no danger involved.
If i'm not mistaken, isn't cocaine metabolized out of the body pretty fast, like within a couple days? If that's the case, there should be no problem, just make sure not to use anymore cocaine or any other contraindicated drug and you should be fine.

What is soon? Do you know that it was only cocaine? Sure it was not cut with something else? The half-cycle of cocaine is relatively short. However, i would keep both experiences seperated by 5 days at least - but that is my personal point of view. As mentioned, i also wouldn´t worry too much about the dietary and you can still hold a dietary on the aya day anyways. Are we a human being with a spiritual experience, or are we a spiritual being with a human experience?

well, the diet is not crucial at all... it just depends what you are looking for. why are you taking ayahuasca? what is your intention, taking it? diet is only important for those who want to be fisicaly and mentaly strong, to integrate a strong spiritual experience. being myself in a long diet, the first diference i saw, was the fact of not pucking myself every damn session. after that you start recieving. what you recieve will depend on your belief sistem, and the tradition of those guiding your experience. Healing someone is an act of love, but how can you love someone whitout loving yourself first?

In some areas coca of various sorts is used as an aya admixture plant to help offest the sleepiness the vine can induce. So I'd have to say no worries about your recent cocaine use. I already asked Alice.

Thanks a lot guys, to the guy that asked, the cocaine was pure (from Cusco, probably the best I've ever had) I don't like coke much anyways, I only numbed a very small finger amount.
I have also been drinking alcohol recently, just because of my travels and I would have the chance to do aya within 2 days.
I'm looking for a spiritual experience, that it obvious to some degree, but being in the presence of a Chaman I wanted to make sure it was done at least safely.
Thank you thank you thank you!
Also, my 71 year old grandmother is interested in the ceremony as well, she's a very strong women but I don't know if she's ready for something of this magnitude, I know I'm not!

What are the chances, your grandma will get "ready" in her lifetime? Who is "ready" ? What does that even mean? Also, i don't understand how you need to be "ready". I would worry more about her having a weak heart or something.

I can be spared the "what is ready" comments, ready to me is having some sort of past psychedelic experience, she has none. Cheers.

There are 2 reasons for a diet: 1) to avoid medical sort of complications, this is to avoid serotonin and/or tyramine excesses. Only rare cases of individual sensitivity should really be careful here, most people have no issue here. To stay on the safe side never hurts. Coke is indeed on the list but if the serotonin levels stay in check there is no danger. A serotonin syndrome does not need interaction, it can already happen with too much of 1 kind RIMA. 2) to get more out of the experience by being in no pre-set of any other kind of influence. Is fairly logic and self explaining. Salt, sugar, meat, fats, restricting are often mentioned to pave the way for the plant. Here, stray from other entheogens and sex can open one most for aya. Has all nothing to do with danger, but mind-body-setting coping for the max.

My dad was 71 years old when he tried Pharma, he had no problems, so i don't think your grandmother would have any problems, just make sure her heart isn't weak though.
Sadly though, my dads Pharma experience was his first and last, he died a week later from MRSA/Pulmonary Embolism.

Grandma will not be attending, I gave her a little bit of backround on how psychedelic experiences work and she decided against it. Purges, great to hear from you
