Dear Friends,
Id like to formally extend the offer to join me and others in peru for the month of may in 2015. i specifically will be seeking cactus and look to assimilate a group of like minded folks. i intend to explore chavin de huantar once more in hopes of identifying a few potent specimens for collection. (we can then cultivate our findings using at least my friends garden/ plant business, if not resources of your own). there are also 2 local cactus practitioners in the area if you are set on that type of experience too. (ill be meeting with jack, the gringoish shaman this time around)

for those who are interested the base cost is about 600 usd for transportation to and from chavin, each day you're there you'll need about 10 USD for food and hostel fees. (strongly recommend budgeting for 20$ a day, and or extra finances for mini excursions)

please feel free to check out possible itineraries/dates on
spirit.com

ill be in peru for at least a month, id like to also head northwest up to tarapoto region for aya/wachuma of a different area

lastly if theres any time or resources available theres a cactus practitioner in iquitos, don howard of choque chinchay who seems to be very respected for his work with cacti. so if this winds up a possibility, i fully intend on exploring it. however his retreat costs are beyond my budget.... so it would only work if he felt called too.

much love, please feel free to add on ideas or what have you

forever loving cactus,
mew

I will certainly keep this adventure in mind Smile I was planning on visiting iqiutos in early to mid march to go out for my second aya retreat. Doing a catus pilgrimage is my next big goal in visiting peru. I have a fairly new (2 1/2yrs old) garden with nearly 250 trichocerus specimen, and my dream is to go out into the andes and collect some from there homeland. Also I feel that when the day comes to share this medicine with the world, I would like to have the proper guidance and training from a real maestro/shaman.

My ideas for my travels include hopefully going to envision fest in costa rica in febuary, and making my way down to panama. my reason for this is that you can connect to iquitos from panama and skip going to Lima in peru. Im just not a big city person and did not enjoy anything there, except getting in the ocean Thumbs up . I hope I can get together the funds to have a very extended travel because I would then like to make my way towards the sacred valley. One of my big goals is to see Macchu Picchu, but then to spend my time afterwards to search for the cactus. I even heard from a girl I met in iquitos that she got to drink san pedro at macchu picchu, imagine that!

Anyways perhaps some plans will change and we could possibly make a pilgriage happen if our travel plans meet up. stay posted on this adventure, and i will as well on what my plans turn out to be. Goodluck Big grin

i mostly just want to see macchu picchu for the bucket list not for a ceremony lol. dont know if youve gone to the jungle yet but my retreat center im going to is la familia medicina near jenero hererra a 4 hr boat ride from iquitos. you should check them out if you have any interest in that as well. they do there retreat on a donation based policy, and is so far the most reasonbly priced and set up retreat I have come across. I know youre on the mission for the cactus, but I always like to extend the info to any adventurer Thumbs up

thanks for the information!!!

ultimately, id like to work with a more experienced practitioner. I'm hoping to glean some techniques for preparation/administration/facilitation so i can help the medicine be more effective in my/others use

im also doing this on a work exchange basis aside from contributing financially for food and supplies when needed

Very cool, i am also very interested in the same. With all my cactus that i plan to grow into a personal forest Smile I feel more and more the need to get some experience from a trained practitioner, if i plan on properly sharing my medicine with others. I myself have only drank san pedro tea one time about 3 yrs ago and I felt the set and setting were not in the most respectful manner. It was an amazingly powerful experience, and ive sworn to put only the upmost respect and love into any future experiences, which ive yet to have. Ive only dedicated 150% to my garden which I want to give at least 5yrs before I begin any thoughts of harvest.
Hopefully i can swing some long term travelling by that time next year because an adventure like this is right up my alley

the plants will teach you more than a man

but I'm curious what men have to say on it too, having listened only to the plants for so long.

brother, don't be afraid to re-approach a personal communion with the medicine. feel it out, and work from the ground up. there may only be a handful of people on the planet with the knowledge we seek, and to find them we must surely immerse ourselves in that vibration.

were doing it now, this experience is that^ so keep on flowing down the medicine path and well unite in the heart of the huachuma's land

I would love nothing more than to join on this pilgrimage, but I'm afraid I may not be able to fund such a trip a year from now...

But I will definitely keep up with this thread in the mean time, in hopes that I am able to make it happen. Smile

Theres no fear in re approaching the medicine, only just trying to be patient for the right time. Also I live near houston tx so theres little to no wilderness, or at least a place to get away from people and the city. My only concearns with that is I want to have a very deep experience next time and just wanna get far out in nature so I can be free to do whatever I need to be comfortable. Im actually preparing a camping trip for me and two friends for some healing with the cactus in the next two weeks so hopefully I can share a report on that soon.

Hopefully sometime this summer or near the end of sumer I will have a more solid plan on how my adventures will go. I most certainly am going to keep this in mind and let you know when I start to get the funds together for this. Goodluck planning your adventures!

I would REALLY love to go, but May is a difficult month for me to get time off from work to travel. I work at a garden center and time off from work in the Spring is a big no no.

I MAY go this fall and or winter depending on things. Might go to Angkor Wat instead. I don't think I could go wrong either way. Still trying to decide. So many amazing possibilities out there in the world.

Lets discuss this further though because if it's at a time when I could go, I would be very interested!

Sounds pretty awesome. I wonder what the cost of land is like around Chavin de Huantar
