Meh, it's OK I guess... Laughing

But in all seriousness, the more I think about this question the more difficult it becomes for me to form an answer. DMT has had very profoundly positive effects on my life and mindset, it has proven to be an irreplaceable tool in transforming my perception of myself, others, the world and the universe. It has been helpful in overcoming my addictions, negativity, misanthropy, and apathy. I most certainly love the positive long-term effects that DMT has had on my consciousness... But do I love DMT?

Part of me wants to agree with PowerfulMedicine, which is to say that although DMT has been an incredibly useful tool for me, I don't necessarily love my shovel or my drill. I would have to say that I also agree that I value all of the psychedelic medicines I have used equally, so I can say for certain that I do not necessarily love DMT more than I love psilocybin/psilocin or mescaline.

On the other hand I also agree that DMT is part of the universe, and I love the universe, so therefore I automatically love DMT.

I guess what it really boils down to is the fact that I find DMT and the experiences it can produce to be overwhelmingly fascinating. I find chemistry, spirituality, and plants to be incredibly interesting as well; and I would say that I love those subjects, so on that basis I will give DMT a 9 on the Love Scale. Approximately 9 metric Love Units. Love

Pease take a moment to explain why you love DMT. If you don't love DMT then please explain why you do not.

I want this thread to have 1,000 replies! I want to hear from every Nexian!

I guess maybe this is a misunderstanding, or House could have been more specific, but I was assuming we were ranking the experience and not the chemical material. The ambiguity when talking about DMT as either a substance or an experience has created trouble in some of those somewhat recent religious threads as well. For myself personally, I'd rate DMT above psilocybin or LSD or any of the others I've tried because even if those entheogens have the ability in potential to rival DMT, they haven't done a very good job at doing so for myself.

Great topic. Many unconscious beliefs are comming to the surface.

I notice several people say they don't love DMT nececairily, because they only see it as a tool.

I guess, when I said I love DMT, I REALLY meant that I love the experience produced by smoalking DMT
You could say DMT in itself...is just a crystaline compound, looking much like sugar and salt. That in and of itself it has no true value.
It is only when we humans smoalk it(or drink it with MAOI's) that it produces an experience that is valuable to us.

But that is exactly the reason why I, and others, value DMT; the crystal compound itself too. We cannot, after having travelled spice-realms, see the crystal compound as unconnected to the experience we value. The molecule Dimethyl Tryptamine seems to us the doorway/portal to that experience and as such holds tremendous value in itself too.

Especially as close to noone of us know of any other portal that leads to this exact "place", this crystaline compound is our only known way into this realm of existance.

Allowing entry into a completely different world, they are treasures amongst tools. They aren't ordinairy tools.
Sugar is a "tool" to sweeten foods and drinks & to gain an energy boost. That's a nice tool for sure, but it's not profound. However a tool, like DMT, allowing access to an entirely different realm of existance...Now that I would call a profound tool. A significantly more valuable tool.

I chose 9. It's a weird question to be asked though in my opinion.

Do I like DMT? It's like asking if I like water.

And it gets even more muddled when we can break the "experience" part down to either just the time between ingestion and the last molecule being cleared from the brain or the entire impact experienced in our lives.

I didn't realize until this thread, but I must fall into the "loose interpretation" crowd. I really consider the entire impact, even outside of the parameters of intoxication, as part of the DMT experience. Just thinking about it makes me all warm with gratitude, and awe struck as just how magical it is.Love

This is a great topic, and I look forward to revisiting it in 5 years, 10 years, when my DMT journey is not so front-loaded with overall healing and has many more and deeper experiences of acute intoxication produced by smoking DMT.

It's a 7 for me; personally I love it 9++++++ but it makes me sad that it's not legal and not everyone would get it, the molecule is life changing for those who are open minded which is a small percentage. Sad Only one of those could ever change, so 8 max.

Would you mind explaining this response to me a little bit more thoroughly? I am confused as to how the legality and accessibility of the compound factors into your personal affection for it...

In a perfect world, 9+++++++ all around.

I am frustrated, it changed me. I want everyone to understand. Some can't because it's illegal, and some can't because frankly their minds aren't open and they will probably never be. Reality check this weekend, as I sat in a bar/diner eating lunch and having a drink with my lady, just hit me how most of the people there weren't even looking for a higher sense of being. I hope that makes sense, I will meditate on that thought and try explain it in more clear terms.

Interpret the thread how you wish. I just want to hear from everyone, in their own words.

I love DMT because how could I knot?

I love the whole process of bringing it into crystal form as much as i love the experience that one can get from smoking it. This is because I truly feel like I put my passion and love into the whole process; and it shows in the experience. It is all blessed with sage and I imagine blissful things while I am doing every step of the extraction.

I admire the science and patience that it takes to extract any alkaloid, as well as much admiration for the process of evolution that allowed us to learn and grow - to be able to know how to extract and play within the rules of this realm.

I take each batch and look at it under a microscope and admire the creation of something so special. Each time, the shapes and formations are a little different. I finally got the "cubic crystals" that Captain Future has mentioned and grown. I haven't tried them yet.... maybe tonight. Very happy

Much love to all of yah!

8.999999999999..., where 9 is reserved only for existence itself which DMT is but one part of.

Why is DMT so awesome? Because it's DMT.

Because shadow dancer porcelain transformer cube dolls. Infinite torus pillar goddess of eternity splitting space and time with her arms, refolding along the axis of existence?

I love that it secretly scares me to death, that could just as much make me laugh tears from the pores of my soul than it could make a man of me by tearing it apart for an eternity of ten minutes. It's music is silent and deafening. I love that nobody is, or ever will be prepared for it. You can't control it. You're powerless yet for a time it can give you infinite power. It's like something we aren't supposed to have. God screwed up. Left pieces of itself inside plants.... and it's everywhere...

Really wonderful responses so far everyone!
I think it's great we have such a thoughtful thread to consolidate all of our perspectives into one.
But 35 replies when we had 465 members post last month just doesn't cut it! Cool

I have retyped this sentence about 24 times... Lets try again!

For me... 8+

I love it Because when you know the truth its actually something you can feel without any doubt. Its like Ive been there many many times before even though I have never had an experience until recently.

PS: The low amount or replies might be as some people (like myself) might feel that their opinion is not worthy yet Confused

You have talked me into it.

I think DMT may have helped with cravings for the bad drugs that i was addicted to before. I sometimes find the initial comedown/afterglow very opiatelike. I also like the fact that although i haven"t had any truly negative trips i am a bit scared of it.

I don"t believe that it has made me a better person but it has given me a fresh perspective of how i view my surroundings and reality. I really like the philosophical dillemma it gives me on there being something totally bizzarre going on behind my normal curtain of perception, or whether i am becoming deluded due to altered brain chemistry and suggestion. Or both. Or both of them and something else. Or neither of them, just something else. Or something else and another something else. Or both of them + 2 something elses multiplied by infinity. Or infinity divided by 2 somethings elses + the square root of a sheep.

I definitely want to give ayahusca a go when i have a few days spare.
