Hello,

Im IANS, I'm now at that mid life age. I'm experienced in something's or was from earlier in life, its funny how you can forget. Most of my time is taken up running a small business. I love working independently, but it takes everything, and leaves you lacking the time to do other more interesting and imo healthy things. I've only recently discovered some of the things talked about on this forum.

Starting this year (Jan 2014) I gave up processed foods, fast food, canned goods etc, and been exploring supplements, herbs and such. This process has shows results, but decided to step it up abit (ok, more then abit). This is what has lead me down this road.

I've had many experiences as of late, most all have been incredibly positive, at the same time it seems I have mountains to move to find true inner peace. Perhaps I will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and share some of my own my experiences within this community.

hi ians, its great to hear you are making more time for yourself. alot of people stumble through life only to wake up one day thinking, 'where have i ended up?' running a small business is a dream of mine, to be self supporting and efficient at what i do. I too have started eating very healthy this year and although not fat, have lost every bit of my gut without lifting a finger. fresh food is where its at.

not to sound offensive but what alot of inspirational people around me who've overcome adversity and self-disclipline issues have said the same thing. the mountain they were trying to move to find happyness was the 'big hunk of meat called "curb" once he was willing to quit stopping me at every step, things opened up'

welcome to the nexus. may we both find peace and new beginnings =)

Hey! I like your user name. That's pretty clever.

I am right there with you. I was a small business owner, but Gave it up to Get back in school and pursue a more passionate career choice/life purpose.

My business was a service business that had me leaving the house early in the morning, driving all over the city, and getting home late at night. I was eating crap, my body was stressed, and my mind was a little "sick." It had to go.

Luckily, I was in a position that allowed me to make those life changes. There was sacrific, for sure. But I would make the same choice again and again if the same situation was repeatedly presented to me.

By changing my career, I stopped driving around the city all day. This helped my back and knees - which hurt from sitting in 6 hours of traffic.

I stopped eating fast food - I am no longer feeling rushed, I now have time to make a meal that is healthy and much better on the wallet.

I realized that chasing the dollar is not my life purpose. Many people try to tell me that I should be chasing the dollar, the American dream - No thanks. There are many more healthy/entertaining things to chase than the perspective that money buys happiness.

The best thing I learned is that I should chase what I want to chase, and let others race their own race.

Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.

As for our career choices, we all have to do it. I don't hate mine. My business is connected to other small family owned business, all good people, many of them have become my personal friends. Without this I would have very little connection to society, other then hanging at the bar. As it turns out I find myself well connected to people connected to just about everything from local politics, law enforcement, and ofc business of all sorts. I would likely become lost without this. Lucky in my case most of my major dealing are all standard 9-5 business's, and I more or less have done away with the side dealings, giving more time, less cash flow, but whatever.

As for natural foods, its without question the way to go. For 5 months now I've been all natural, not all organic but still a major positive change. I lost 15 pounds and have nothing else to lose, in fact my last girl friend was trying to fatten me up. I now have a washboard stomach and lift weights every other day, I do some yoga but not much, maybe more as time goes on. I found out the basic water filters don't remove fluoride so now drink spring water until I can get a reverse osmosis system setup. So many things stand in the way..

Anyways, thanks again for the welcome, hope to see you guys on the forum. Thumbs up
