I've heard countless rumours that DMT might be produced during deep meditation and during dreams, however people have claimed that the whole phenomena is only a myth.

I did some meditation yesterday, repeating a mantra, and after a while I sunk deeper down in the rabbit hole and colours started flashing and I could se an arrangement of fractals, very close to the ones I saw on DMT.

I'm not stating that my mind created DMT yesterday, however I thought; wouldn't it be possible to do research on this matter? Like scan the brain activates during meditation and non meditation, and see how it differs. Or maybe similar studies are being made as we speak.

It was evaluated and hypothesized by Dr. Rick Strassman that DMT plays a role in certain life cycles such as birth, death, and dreaming. Meditation is up there as well.. stemming from its long history of its known power. DMT seems to be highly and naturally active during extreme stress situations and dreaming, alongside meditation, seem to be ways of breaking through without actually taking DMT. Some Nexus members have described their experiences by encouraging this experience in their dreams and having the trip itself. As with repetitive, breathing meditation. Personally speaking, meditation is a beneficial realization and not so much a trip. Dreaming I can relate with much more clarity as I have experienced brief psychedelic trips through dreaming.

I think you may enjoy this thread if you have not seen it already. You can also search meditation as a keyword and find many other postings/sub-forums on the topic.

I've had full-blown DMT breakthroughs in dreams, but only tiny flashes during meditation.
Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. We cross and recross our old paths like figure skaters; our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.

Thank you very much for such a good answer and link to topic. I find that dreams and meditation have much in common. Especially lucid dreams. That you in both soften your ego, or actually release yourself from it with a breakthrough, liberation. Going to read more about Dr. Rick Strassman research, sounds interesting.

I think psychedelic experiences, lucid dreaming, and meditation are a trifecta of profound knowledge, as well.
