Hi,

I'm new; didn't join the Nexus in search of any specific questions or answers, just came to join the conversations and experience the community. That being said, mind if we start a discussion?

I assume that most of us psychonauts have deeper reasoning for our interactions with psychedelics than just "the effects of a drug". I'm under the impression that psychedelics actually heighten a sixth sense of ours. Have psychedelics enabled you to connect dots in other areas of knowledge or study? How significant do you believe their role?

It's weird but a decade ago when I first started trying psychedelics I could care less about the knowledge and spiritual part of it. It was all about how completely sideways I could get my mind. I suppose it's much different now...

Glad to be here!

I could probably write a a few subjective books on my perspective. Send me a PM if you want to see a cool video that I made. Smile

Welcome, Brother or Sister
Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.

I never really have an absolute belief. I just have what I think is most believable to me at the time. For instance right now it's the idea of astral planes and that some psychedelics have the ability to move "spirit" into different planes. I usually go through phases of belief every few years. I'm hoping I can find a belief that is a absolute certain. Probally won't tho.
It's all good tho hahah. Welcome

Cool answer. I feel like that too. Whenever I have epiphanies I remind myself that it's only a moment on the timeline rather than some finite event, and that in future epiphanies this knowledge will seem sophomoric. I also wonder about absolute certain beliefs - but I feel like the only place that such a thing can truly come from is from within ourselves.

It wasn't until I discovered meditation from the Vedic that I believed psychedelics were something greater.

They are sacraments; sacraments that can be enlightening, terrifying, and fun all at once. Smile

I think spirituality is a personal and subjective phenomena. I find it to be at the core of meaningful human experience. Yet, I don't believe a chemical to be supernatural in any way. Natural selection has given us a unique experience that differs substantially from any other creature. The complexity of our minds is far more vast than any other. With that said, there are hidden vestiges of species once lived, or societies or situations in which we once dwelt. Drugs can tap into base and those hidden neural pathways alike, yet they can also tap into multiple pathways that were never meant to be activated together. To me DMT is one of the most potent of those drugs, that happens to tap into the deepest and most hidden pathways, touching our emotions and persona so strongly, that it lends itself to being what I would interpret as a spiritual experience.

I think for me its important to understand this, that DMT is a tool. It can change how I look at reality, but its not reality per se. Its not the answer to my problems, but it can help me have a different perspective on my problems.
