What solvents are used in Australia? I searched the forum for an answer and found an old topic where some Australians discussed how the Naphtha/Shellite here is unusable for extractions, leaving a thick oil over the crystals. The only alternative was limonene, but that is only good for making goo, isn't it? Has anything changed since then? What do some of the Australians on this board use?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Ugh this is probably better suited to the Welcome Q&A section. I didn't see it before. Move?

Xylene (stinky but pulls well)
Toluene (expensive in small amounts, cheap in bulk)
Vegetable Oil (much emulsion but very cheap)
D-limonene (expensive but lovely and economical)
shellite (pulls less than the rest but is cheap and gives crystals).

I've used all of these...

D-limonene is my favourite but it can be hard to find - I bought mine at a moulding and casting supplier.
Xylene is easy to use and pulls efficiently and would be my second choice but don't breathe that shit!

Limonene is hard to find? I thought it was sold at Bunnings. It sounds like a good choice as it's essentially fruit peel extract so it's not toxic to work with, but, again, can't you only get goo from an extraction using it? Just to recap... the general gist of the old solvents in Australia thread was that Aus solvents were leaving a lot of residue and I'm asking whether that's still the case? and what's the cleanest solvent available in Aus?

I don't know what the KCB initialism stands for? and that's the thread I was referring to.

Its not that we want to discourage posting or discussion but we like to keep it all in one thread its easier to find rather than having the board thinned out by the same topics and the information scattered about.
The other solvents thread is a good example it shows the development over time of different peoples results with certain brands. Eg forget diggers shellite.

I use toluene for initial pulls that I evapourate, then hot shellite for rextal.
I seem to have no problem when using the shellite for this purpose.

Why don't you use shellite in the first pull?

Because it doesn't pull as well, especially when cold.
It is easier to heat the impure DMT in a water bath with 30-50mls of shellite in a shot glass... then heating several liters.
