With barely a whimper, nexus.tripsit.me succumbed to lack of interest yesterday. I had hopes for the psychonaut social media site, but entropy and a sort of masturbatory posting cycle by many there took its toll and it has been swallowed by time.

Was that a website of yours or some guys here? It is indeed not currently up.

To be honest, your post was a bit confusing . . .

Never heard of that site. When was it launched?

I didn't kill it, honest! Shocked

Like everyone else, I am confused by your post. Never heard of it before today, and now, as you say, it's down.

Tripsit is a network that tries to provide 24/7 education and harm reduction services. The heart of it is really their IRC chat network that provides real time discussion and assistance. The Nexus part of it was basically a social network for psychonauts, it never did get very big or see much action and I guess they finally decided to pull the plug on it.

It's a little hectic over there and tends to be a bit of a drug discussion free for all populated by mostly teenagers and young adults. However, they do provide a good and much needed service to the overall drug using community and their mission is quite a noble one. It's important that the young and misguided people have access to good information and and that is the service they provide.

That was incredibly informative - thank you so much.

Wow, what a great idea! I'm surprised I never heard of it before - I would have probably spent some time there.

But, as you mention, the reality of IRC chats is terrible. It's mostly teenage boys who just want to get so high that they don't have to deal with the heavy physical, emotional and social stressors of growing up and becoming men.

Having said that, I was thanked more than once for what I call lay psychedelic crisis counseling when I participated in IRC chats on other drug sites. If I could help someone then surely lots of folks were in fact being helped. Too bad it is finis.

Here a new site we should all support. It's not quite ready yet, but I heard about it on the Joe Rogan podcast. He had a guest, .holly something I think, who was a CNN journalist, became disillusioned and quit. Joe suggested she try ayahuasca. She took his advice, traveling to Peru for traditional aya sessions. She then spent the next year traveling the world, prying open her third eye with mushrooms and aya.

She started this psychedelic new website that should be live any day now. Check it out, bookmark it: Reset.me. Get it? Reset me. Pretty clever.

"Reset.Me strives to provide accurate journalism on psychedelics and alternative therapies for depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, addiction, and other health conditions.

We seek to give those who need to hit the ‘reset’ button in life information for improving mental and physical well-being.

Through the aggregation of content and production of independent journalism by experienced reporters, Reset.Me aims to create an open discussion surrounding psychedelics and alternative therapies. We highlight both the positive and negative aspects of the medicines and offer plentiful safety news and expert advice to encourage harm reduction.

The team behind Reset.Me endeavors to build a community that connects like-minded individuals worldwide to promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences. "

Ak. I had labored under the misconception that it was more well known. I was invited there from here, oh, never mind. But yes dreamer, you summed it up nicely and less vaguely, I suppose. Sorry to confuse y'all.

The reset.me does sound interesting, let's hope it thrives.

This is really sad news as education and harm reduction are vitally important, perhaps would it not be possible to recreate a similar system that could be put in place within The Nexus forum itself. Where the moderators and senior members of the site could provide counselling or any other members who have counselling or harm reduction experience.

It would be invaluable if members of the site could get counselling if they are experiencing a bad or difficult entheogen journey, advice regarding set and setting and integration techniques.

Just some thoughts as I know this would be a tremendous undertaking but the amount of people that could be helped would make it all worth while.

I think the easiest way to do that might be to make a way for one to be active in the chat room without having a window for it open. Maybe have it be an option to have a side-bar for the chat room with a little live chat feed.

It could then also show what moderators and senior members are online, as i am positive the best advice, counseling etc.. will come from them generally. Other members could also volunteer to be linked to the feed whenever they're online to help counsel or advise if seniors and moderators are not available ATM.

I think there may be a misunderstanding here, it was only the social network section of Tripsit (named Nexus) that was taken down. Tripsit network is still up and running doing 24/7 harm reduction on their IRC network, broadcasting radio, maintaining a wiki, and so on.

Trav has been in contact with their admin and there is mutual support between DMT Nexus and Tripsit.

I fully support more harm reduction activity here at the DMT Nexus and think Aegle's idea for counseling is a very good one Thumbs up

I think that what Tripsit could really use is more mature experienced long term psychonauts such as makes up the member base of the DMT Nexus to come offer information and guidance to the young people over there.

The times this appeared to help, from the perspective of the lay counselor were when chat was chill, straightforward and of course, redpectful snd empathic.

It can be difficult to know what to say to someone in extremis. When chat was full of fast debate, guys speaking in caps, with exclamation points, etc. Other times it was close to impossible in the past on an April 1st when a guy came in serious as death having a horrible trip.

Also, if too many folks try to help at once it can confuse the person reaching out for help.

It can be very difficult for me as a lay, including in text, pdychedelic crisis counselor. . . in order to have a shred of a chance to help. In order not to write a clinic on this, all I can say is that it is difficult to bring empathy and knowledge of my personnel rough rides to the fore, but to simultaneously work hard NOT project my personnel stuff. To draw from a depth of real world and psychedelic experiences and yet work as hard as I can to hear the root issue.

It took me years to get good at it.

This is VERY serious as anyone who has had very difficult experiences understands.

Uaually by the time a person needing help thinks/guts up to ask. . . by this time the substance has them. Purging and setting changes are not helping. They are thinking about things like suicide or dosing even more drugs to make it end, they are on the edge of calling emergency services and would on some level really prefer to be running, screaming on the street, rather than hoping you can really help.

In my opinion, even though folks truly do want to help, this work is not for everyone.

Given the reality of how chat works here, I am unsure of how to improve on what we currently have.

Trips it and this nexus have both been integral parts of my support network. While I don't do irc, posting and receiving responses via the forum and PMs have helped me with various circumstance I put myself in, from a heroin relapse to breaking up with a lover to being possibly incarcerated. I'll miss the nexus, met some really great people there, they are aren't all backwards baseball cap wearing yeehaw partiers.

Again, I know nothing about irc, but if HR is something the nexus wishes to explore in earnest, I'm not sure how to go about it. As far as crisis intervention, I agree with Pandora. I think it may work on trips it because the channel is dedicated to that, staffed by people who can help. Otherwise the advice for healing sub forum works for folks who wish to post. I wish as "enlightened psychonauts" (lol) we were immune to situations that require us to holler for help, but we aren't. Having a place where we can receive advice from people who know and understand our platform is very helpful.

RIP tripsit. Anyone from there knows who I am here, despite different handles, so yer welcome to say "high".

I'm really glad, thank you for the encouraging news that the Tripsit network is still up and running. Indeed it would be a really positive and productive contribution to the site, I am really pleased that you support my idea of trying to implement and cultivate further structures, which could be put in place regarding counselling and harm reduction within The Nexus.

If we could transfer this concept of counselling and harm reduction to The Nexus while having the moderators and the senior members involved, it would in turn prevent the shortcomings that the Tripset community has with regards to mature guidance and sound, logical support.
