Who is this strange little rodent who has crept onto the Nexus during the night? I recognise some names and avatars from other forums, so I guess some of you might know me already, but for everyone else…

I am...
...a scientist
...a cynic
...a recluse

I have...
...a fascination with altered states of all kinds
...a background in pharmacology
...an interest in harm minimisation, especially in the areas of accurate drug information, researching drug interactions, and identifying wild fungi.

As for why I chose this place, rather than another drug forum? Well the answer is in two parts, the first quite simple: I like the Nexus, I like it a lot. I was especially impressed by the emphasis on quality over quantity. I like the structure which allows all members to participate in their own way. I like the amount of science being done! I like what is being built here and I want to be a part of it and help if I can.

And the second part, well it seems big and complicated to me because it's personal, but I guess it's really just as simple: this is where my path has led me. A combination of chance & choice has resulted in me being interested in aya at this time, and deciding to come here to discuss it, and learn more. I've had many good experiences using psychedelics therapeutically, and am interested in aya in this context. I am ill, and feel myself falling into quite a dark place at the moment. In the past when this has happened I've found it useful to have a good hard look inside my brain to see what's going on, but I'm finding this difficult right now - I think a catalyst is called for. I have heard that some people call the DMT-containing component of ayahuasca "the light". I think I could use a little light in my life…
…a harsh spotlight on my flaws
…a sparkle in my eye
…a light to guide my way…

Hello, I am Anodyne. I am very pleased to be here.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Thankyou for the welcome!

The same member who recommended that I join the Nexus, also suggested keeping a log of my experiences. As I plan to attempt some fairly serious life-changes using aya as a catalyst, this seemed like good idea, so I will try to keep a record of my attempts in this direction. However I didn't want to make my intro essay four pages long Laughing , so I might save that story for a "First Steps.." entry.

Sounds like a plan!

I was telling someone this same thing yesterday, but it's really great to document these experiences especially at the beginning. Not only do we all get a piece of hyperspace to learn from you, but you get to look back some day upon it and remember. Writing is also one of the best forms of integration we have (along with a solid dose of time) as it helps us process our emotions down into a tangible language. Although it may seem difficult or impossible it is still a reflection of the source. See you around!

We could all use a little light to guide us at times. Welcome and I also look forward to hearing of your voyages.

Welcome, Anodyne! Always a pleasure to have another intelligent, experienced, scientifically-motivated person on board! Smile

I definitely second that recommendation for keeping a journal of your experiences. I have found this...

... to be incredibly true for me. I also really like the idea of flipping through years-old experiences somewhere on down the line and having those "oh yea! I forgot about that one" moments. It can be hard to keep track of all the lessons one learns when one is constantly seeking more. Having a little reminder now and again can be immensely useful!

Once again, welcome!! Thumbs up
