If this is turning into a general discussion of anti-nausea agents, I should mention that diphenhydramine has some SSRI activity and as such may interact badly with MAOIs and
should not be taken with ayahuasca. When taking it with anything else, be aware that it can make you feel drowsy and groggy - if you plan to take it with any psychoactive, I would recommend trying it on its own first to make sure you tolerate these effects ok. Me and most of my friends find them quite unpleasant.
I'm interested in this ginger thing too. Looks like most of the
scientific trials that demonstrated anti-nausea effects were using capsules of ground dried ginger root, so that may be one way to avoid any solubility issues - just eat the whole thing! The compounds (shogaols & gingerols) which are probably responsible for most of gingers medicinal actions, look to have low melting points (~30C) but very high boiling points (over 400C). So it's possible that they would just melt to become a liquid oily layer on the top of your cup of tea, without actually evaporating or being destroyed. Gingerols are heat sensitive, but the
reaction is a weird reversible one, and since the compounds they convert to are shogaols which are probably also active anyway, that may not be a problem at all.
