..i bow out for now,
with a meditation..
it is from the early Buddhist Pali canon..the 'Acacia Dialogue'..
(and remember..buddhist monks keep secrets...)
The Khadira Sutta (Acacia Dialogue) (S 56.32/5:438 f)
Samyutta Nikaya (from translation by Piya Tan)
(the Buddha said) ...
2. Bhikshus, if anyone were to speak thus:
โWithout realizing the noble truth that is suffering according to reality,
without realizing the noble truth that is the arising of suffering according to reality,
without realizing the noble truth that is the ending of suffering according to reality,
without realizing the noble truth that is the path to the ending of suffering according to reality,
I shall make a total end of sufferingโโthis is impossible.
3. Just as, bhikshus, someone were to speak thus:
โHaving made a bag of acacia leaves, or of pine needles, or of myrobalan leaves, I will carry water or a palm fruitโโthis is impossible.
Even so, bhikshus, if anyone were to speak thus: โWithout realizing the noble truth that is suffering according to reality, without realizing the noble truth that is the arising of suffering according to reality, without realizing the noble truth that is the ending of suffering according to reality, without realizing the noble truth that is the path to the ending of suffering according to reality,I shall make a total end of sufferingโโthis is impossible.
4. But, bhikshus, if anyone were to speak thus: โHaving realized the noble truth that is suffering according to reality, having realized the noble truth that is the arising of suffering according to reality, having realized the noble truth that is the ending of suffering according to reality, having realized the noble truth that is the path to the ending of suffering according to reality,
I shall make a total end of sufferingโโthis is possible.
5. Just as, bhikshus, someone were to speak thus: โHaving made a of bag lotus leaves, or of kino leaves, or of maluva leaves, I will carry water or palm fruitโโthis is possible.
Even so, bhikshus, if anyone were to speak thus: โHaving realized the noble truth that is suffering according to reality, having realized the noble truth that is the arising of suffering according to reality, having realized the noble truth that is the ending of suffering according to reality, having realized the noble truth that is the path to the ending of suffering according to reality,
I shall make a total end of sufferingโโthis is possible.
6. Therefore, bhikshus,
Devoted effort should be made to understand,
โThis is the suffering.โ
Devoted effort should be made to understand,
โThis is the arising of suffering.โ
Devoted effort should be made to understand,
โThis is the ending of suffering.โ
Devoted effort should be made to understand,
โThis is the path to the ending of suffering.โ
