Very nice. Its funny how misshapen grafts look sometimes. Like something with an abnormally giant head and thin body. Keep up the great work. Cacti are wonderful house plants. Let us declare nature to be legitimate. All plants should be declared legal, and all animals for that matter. The notion of illegal plants and animals is obnoxious and ridiculous. โ Terence McKenna

This is awesome. I recently built one for my new seed sowing. Going to start 130 species. About 2500 seeds all together. My grafts go under a different set up though. The first two pictures are of my seedling cabinet and then the other is my graft set up. hostilis attached the following image(s): P3090001.JPG (304kb) downloaded 300 time(s). What's your "turn-on" temperature for the fan? In other words, what temp do you keep your cabinet at? Thank you, wap p.s. nice cabinet hostilis :-) + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- DMT Nexus Research ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- +

@Hostilis: Looking good I love your graft setup too. I have a while to go before I have that many Pereskiopsis growing. Do you have many issues with fungus gnats? I have to conduct a small genocide every few days to keep them from taking over wearepeople wrote:Funky Monkey wrote:I'm using a simple TMP36 sensor connected to the 3.3V and it's own ground. Thank you, wap p.s. nice cabinet hostilis :-) I have it set to turn on at 29°C when the light is on, and it keeps the temp around 28°C. It switches on quite regularly. At night it gets down to about 18-20°C without the fan.

Is that soil temperature or ambient air temperature inside the cabinet? ~wap~ + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- DMT Nexus Research ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- +

A lovely bit of kit - well done. But almost all the plants you have in there are WELL past the size that I would be acclimatising them to the sun. Life is a shit sandwich - the more bread you got, the less shit you eat.

Inside the cabinet there may be some hysteresis, but that will be essentially the same thing. Life is a shit sandwich - the more bread you got, the less shit you eat.

Hi everyone, I thought I'd post an update of my seedlings. They've had some sun this summer but will return to my cabinet this week. I've repotted some and grafted a few. I also acquired some new seeds that I'm going to start. I've expanded my Pereskiopsis forest this summer and am going to take cuttings for grafting. Pictures of the Pereskiopsis will follow shortly. Seeing this thread rele makes me want to make a cabinet like this so that I have something to hobby about this winter and grow my cacti collection. I actually have a half built sorta one of these in my basement that I could finish to be like this with a hinged front door and everything!!! wap Hi wap, did you end up building your growing cabinet? Yes I did. It's pretty awesome. I used an old entertainment center that has doors. Picked it up pretty cheap from a Good Will. Still need to get arduino, thermo-sensor, and fans hooked up. Oh, I also need to spend some time organizing the various wires. Once I get it all tidied up I'll send ya a photo Again, thank you for the inspiration wap + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- DMT Nexus Research ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- + ---- +

Hi guys, I thought I'd do a quick update on my cacti growing as spring has officially come round and things are growing again. I started some new seeds a while back, and grafted some of them. I now have several grafts of T. Peruvianus var. Matucana and 2 grafted t. Peruvianus var. Serra Blue x SS02 Bridgesii. I also grafted three different types of cacti to my old cactus stump. The peruvianus has really exploded. I'm a bit dissapointed by my pachanoi though. I'm still looking for good pachanoi seed (or cuttings) because I have loads of peruvianus. Anyone have good pachanoi seed? I got mine from Koehres Kakteen in Germany. PS! Sorry for the rotated pictures, my phone is not cooperating. More pics will follow.
