I was wondering if anyone had experience with the two. Apparently there are reports of ginkgo synergizing well with marijuana (some saying that it potentiates the plant), and marijuana is known to synergize well with Salvia.

I'm curious if this would make Salvia a little less confusing, and more focused. Or perhaps it does nothing. Never know!
I can't seem to find anything on the combination.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

i've never heard about this before. ginkgo biloba is an amazing archaic specimen, a tree which is said to live up to 3000 years. 65 million years ago (after the series of biological catastrophes that devasted the earth and estinguished so many life forms) all but one species of gingko (adiantoides) became extinct. many other plants and animals (including dinosaurs) also disappeared.
all this may be relevant to ginkgo's chemical peculiarities like the ginkgolides and the bilobalide chemicals which are found nowhere else.
there is also ginkgolic acid in the leaves of ginkgo and these are potentially toxic and should be removed.

there are also indications that the extract of this specimen is a possible treatment for ameliorating some manifestations of dementia and also appears to have an anti-depressant effect.

how would this plant enhance your experience with salvia? is this used for it's beneficial marks on our cognition?
"..undisturbed by order, chaos creates balance. it is not the artifical balance of scales and weights, but the lively, ever-changing balance of a wild and beautiful dance. it is wonderful; it is magickal. it is beyond any definition, and every attempt to describe it can only be a metaphor that never comes near to its true beauty or erotic energy."

I'm not sure how it would affect the salvia experience. That's what I find so intriguing.
It can be used for its cognitive effects, though there hasn't been much research done to prove that it has any. (Don't expect any psychoactive traits from this plant alone.)

Terpenoids (such as ginkgolides) improve blood flow by dilating blood vessels and reducing the stickiness of platelets. People have stated that while meditating after taking the extract, they could feel their pulsating blood flowing through their body.

I suppose I'll just have to try this myself soon enough.

I haven't experienced any synergy with Ginkgo and Salvia, having used both extensively. Ginkgo is great for concentration and does seem to provide a subtle mood lift, which is why I use it.

If you're looking to perhaps make Salvia a little less confusing I have found that harmalas really help in that respect. They have a sort of grounding effect.

I don't know much about gingko, but a friend was toying with a similar idea, pre-dosing with nootropics (namely racetams) with the aim of being able to "bring back" more from dissociative experiences. I'm not sure how far he got with it, but it's an intriguing idea. I'm sure there would still be much of the experience that would defy translation into our normal mind-state, but nootropics might help to counteract the outright memory-loss. I believe racetams take a while to work, not sure if ginkgo is similar, but it's possible you might need to take the nootropic for a few weeks (or months) for maximum effect.

I've also heard that kratom can help reduce the confusion and dysphoria on salvia.

Thank you for your input!

I'm not really interested in taking harmalas, as I'm not interested in a dietary change.
Sad to hear that you haven't experienced any synergy between Ginkgo and Salvia.

Any of the racetams would have a far greater effect on cognitive abilities than Ginkgo would.
If your friend didn't achieve some kind of synergy between a racetam and salvia, I don't think there is much hope for ginkgo.

I'm still interested in trying the combo. I will whenever I am in the right state of mind and the opportunity presents itself.

As a student of lucid dreaming ive tryed many brain boosting supliments on the market over the years..
Ginko increases circulation within the brain.. which is good..
How much it will effect a salvia trip.. im not shure.. but there is a supliment that deals directly with memory and mental concintration that boosts the chemicle comunication between thr receptors in the brain...its called..[galantamine] ..
Galanttamine is the best lucid dream supliment on the market and ive wanted to try some galantamine with a DMT trip to see if my memory of the experiance will be sharper..but i havent tryed it yet...
Im still working on having a DMT breakthrough and have only experianced sub breakthroughs so far...
I started on salvia and have a great respect for it..it is very visionaly.. but higher doses can dull the memory factor..
Non prescription Galantamine...effective against some levels of memory decline in older people]..[dreamimins.com].. is quite safe for most people...but understand its action within the body before taking it with anything else to be safe...
I want to try some with DMT to see if i can bring back more memory of my experiance someday..

Considering ginkgo improves the function of circulation, breathing, mood, memory, cognition, and many other health characteristics, it's most likely some benefit of potentiation will be present. I have taken gingko biloba extract for some time before. A few months, actually. I had a greater sense of energy, motivation and overall functionality.

Not everyone can tolerate this plant, though. Dosage is important because too much circulation can lead to headaches, migraines and possible blood clotting problems. Ginkgo is very safe when used for specific reasons and actually needs time to introduce itself to the body.

It is quite subtle and therapeutic in terms of effects, frequency and impact. Taking it together with psychedelics is an interesting thought. You'll need to be taking gingko itself for some time beforehand to see any real results, though. I smoked cannabis while taking the gingko extract and experienced nothing negative. The supplementation seemed to have a protective and balancing effect against smoke, dizziness and anxiety. I feel the psychedelic effects would overcome the effects of gingko.. considering how subtle they are. Though in theory, gingko could potentiate the level of awareness during the experience.

Overall, it improved life on a subtle level of awareness. I plan to retry gingko again soon with salvia. Smile

Bump for science and entheogenic practice/experience. Thumbs up

I'll be beginning another round of gingko (24% terpenes/6% lactones) supplementation starting tomorrow morning. Will report my experience-s with smoked salvia (40x extract) upon taking biloba for more than two weeks. Or perhaps closer to a month.

I will report in time. Until then, Nexus.

I dont really think it will help you focus but it will make the salvia hit you stronger because of its brain function increasing powers.
I take some ginko brain powder stuff to help me when im writing test and it does help when you sit there for 6 hours straight on a test.

The vigilance effects have already set in. Surprised Very happy We'll see how well I am able to tolerate this extract in the next few weeks.

As stated before [ginko] is for boosting circulation in the brain and body if anything.. [durring trip] it may help your higher brain functions such as.. [critical thought].. by boosting the chemicle comunication links within the brain...

Often clear thinking is wiped out ..[with strong salvia doses].. leaving a fuzzy memory effect..
Supliments like ginko are used a lot to improve lucid dreaming performance..
Another supliment for used for this that works.. [[faster]].. and better in my opinion is..[vinpocetine] ..

Vinpocetine.. and..ginko.. do the same thing increasing blood flow within the brain and body and helps with the chemicle comunication link within the brain..now ..Galantamine..an extract from the snowdrop flower.. causes a strong chemicle link at the receptor sites in the brain boosting memory very well and causing very intense vivid dreaming at night sometimes becomming lucid...

So if anything ..ginko or vinpocetine..may help the salvia get to the brain much faster much faster..
hope this helps...

That's the function and idea, yes. I have some experience with vinepocetine but nothing in regards to utilizing salvia. Nor the amount of supplementation time I've done with ginkgo or other related substances. I'd imagine it'd work more or less to the similar degrees. Also, it'll be interesting to note any lucid dreaming experience I may encounter while using biloba and salvia.

Thanks for the added info. It's all helpful. Smile

On a side note; before I begin to enter the salvia realm once again, I've noticed quite a significant enhancement towards sexual potency and duration/intensity of orgasm from 160mg. This will serve well for further investigations. Wink In no way do I feel or know if salvia will modulate this kind of sensation, however, it's worthy to note down as I did not experience this kind of enhanced, sexual pleasure from taking ginkgo years ago. In terms of ginkgo literature, this makes complete sense and shouldn't be anything novel for biloba news.. but wow. Pleased

Okay, so it has been roughly close to four weeks upon taking gingko biloba standardized extract. I have upped the dose to 180mg throughout the day for the last few weeks with beneficial results. This morning I shall be starting off with a healthy/optimal meal, 60mg of GB, brief breathing meditation, and finishing off with my first small dose (1/4 of a bowl) of smoked salvia (40x extract) through a small bong for a moar precise hit, and to help cool the smoke. Also, I'll be using peppermint leaf (weak KOR agonist) as a base (1/5 of bowl) to place the divine mint on. Pleased This may also help produce an enhanced experience, overall.

Location will be indoors on my living-space couch in a quiet environment. Feeling simultaneous emotions such as excitement, calmness and somewhat nervousness. Hoping to feel and see a greater sense of clarity throughout the experience.

I'll edit this post with report upon the afterglow of salvia in the next few hours. Smile

Edit:

11:00am - Bowl of mints smoked through one pull, quite pleasant tasting, held for as long as possible. Laying back now..

..immediately I feel the typical buzzing salvia effects creep up within my legs and slowly begin to pull me downwards and sideways from my chest, back, arms and head. Into what, I wasn't exactly sure but hadn't broken through anything quite yet. Just a float this cosmic-like inner-verse with in-depth, thought provoking insights. Particularly while flowing through a stream of long lasting thought. Or so it seemed..

'I' was 'here.' This was 'it'. That 'I' was coating this existence with my colors, feelings, and intentions from micro and macro perspectives. A familiar tone, opening and closing, harmony surrounded me in various patterns, pillars, shapes and sizes. I was experiencing an odd pulsation reverberating in different areas of my body upon laying my hand on them. My circulation feels just fine. Waves of in-expressible language and a sense of awe within this 'space' fill my body with dumbfounded laughter. My appreciation of aesthetics and touch is greatly noticeable with eyes open. And now I'm in this kind of strange loop of buoyancy. As I stretch my legs and arms, I feel they could stretch forever and grasp impossible objects surrounding me. The physical stretching felt great.

I close my eyes and see the magic cross here, open there, close below, and tangle above. Nothing quite like salvia! The experience seemed to be cascading constantly through an endless staircase, deeper and deeper. Until suddenly, it was just a dream. Dropping me back into this 'reality' and leaving my body and fleeting out into the open windows. These windows of light and wind were the extractors of all the darkness and 'stuff' I no longer needed in my life. Out it went, and nourished I felt, indeed.

11:35am - Sparingly visuals with eyes closed, strong sense of external appreciation, and feeling at peace. Rejuvenation, all around me. All over my body and in particular, on top of my head. Everything sways and moves cartoon-like, and it doesn't seem to attract my attention. But rather, it just has this overarching 'issness.' That this may be real or just a dream within a dream. My energy is good and salvia gravity is still mildly present but slowly descending. Consciously, my sense of being feels renewed. And my thoughts of gone silent or rogue.

12:05pm - It didn't seem like I had anymore clarity than a typical salvia trip, perhaps a slight, mild increase in attention but nonetheless still comfortable and no pain whatsoever. I'm not sure if gingko really had any increase in detail or not, but I definitely was able to recall and memorize my experience while it was happening Definitely no decrease in any effects, but it seems too soon to really know what may actually be happening with this. The experience did last slightly longer than usual. At least compared to other salvia experiences when gingko was not utilized. Maybe it was the peppermint leaf that had a slight potentiated effect. In the afterglow, music sounds really good and easier to listen to. It completely immerses my senses while covering my eyes. Absolutely wonderful!

Hopefully the above report helps give some brief info and knowledge about the use of ginkgo biloba in regards to the powerful salvia divinorum realm.
