When using powdered material, how is one supposed to transfer liquid from one pot to another without getting any of the material into the mixture Thank you And I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand The best I can.

With a lot of skill! You can strain it through a T-shirt, some will go through but that's ok.

Hazzah, now that makes sense I actually thought cheesecloth would work And I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand The best I can.

Little late for that now But alas, I have learned a lot I think the future will hold better extractions And I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand The best I can.

If you got too much solids floating around, you just have to patient and prepare for some extra work. If you got some deep cone shaped glassware you could pour it over, wait for it to sediment then use a tiny hose to drain the top liquid. You probably wont even need a hose if you got something fairly deep and transparent, as long as you can pour it slowly and retain most of the solids.

When you go to transfer the liquid just pour it very slowly through the cloth shirt filter, trying to keep the plant material in the original pot until most of the water is transfered into the reducing pot. Then start dumping it quicker and hopefully less of it will come through the filter. Everything published by Gone-and-Back are the mad rantings and ravings of a mind who yearns to be free and thinks he knows what he is talking about. However, these are just delusions made to feel that freedom, because that freedom will never come. Any experiments done are purely figments of the imagination, and are falsified to the highest degree. Nothing should be taken seriously from a crazy mans mind.

Filter, let sit overnight so sediment settles on the bottom, siphon or decant the liquid off leaving the sediment behind. Earthwalker wrote:Little late for that now But alas, I have learned a lot I think the future will hold better extractions I might recommend that you finish your acid simmers and then divide your aqueous solution into smaller amounts. Since you started with a kg of bark, I would say split the solution into 4 or 5 separate jars and extract them one at a time. That way if you screw something up that cannot be fixed, you will have only wasted 200-250g of bark rather than 1000g. There is no reason to risk being excessively wasteful, especially when doing so can be very easily avoided. Another option would be to freeze your aqueous solution and save it, so you can continue researching until you are better prepared. To me, this sounds like it might be your best bet.

Split your reduced teas up before you base them and extract, as a 'just in case'
