G'day, I'm Mick and I live in North Queensland (Australia) and I'm quite new to psychedelics. I had the odd acid trip in my younger days but as I was always broke, these tended to be off cuts from my mates trips.
Got a history of opiate misuse and read somewhere of a center treating addicts with DMT.
All the stories got me fascinated so I've embarked upon a quest to extract some of this stuff.
I've got all the same questions as everyone else but I'll keep experimenting. The wife says I'm obsessed. But it's sort of fun,... will this batch yield anything? It's cheap and doesn't make much of a mess.
So I've planted a wattle in the back yard (and have a few things on mail order) so in a few years who knows.

To date my extractions have been less than what I'd hoped for.
If anyone could give me a few pointers I'd be most appreciative
The process I used
First attempt was with Acacia Cinncinata bark,
ground up in blender
soaked in water with some HCl (had it for the pool)
added some naphtha, which cleaned it up a lot, I did this twice
added NaOH crystals (jar gets quite hot)
Naphtha again then shook it up a few times (over 36 hours or so) But it always sat on top. Separation always takes less than a minute. Does it ever mix?
After a couple of days I took the naphtha off and put it in a flat container and put this in the freezer.
After a few hours it looked like there were some white crystals forming. I thought I was on the right path so I sucked up the naphtha and left the last little bit outside to evaporate.
By the time it had evaporated there was nothing left.
my heart sank.
I also have brews with Acacia harpophylla and Psychotria spp on the shelf, maybe they will turn out better.

Hey there! What tek are you following? That doesn't sound like any of the teks I've read. Perhaps a better start plan would do You good. I've used cybs max ion tek with great results. Look it up!

thanks mate, that tek looks similar to what I did except I neither weighed nor measured anything, or added salt. There are some lumpy bits in my latest effort, the problem is that it's so humid here that as soon as these bits get anywhere near the atmosphere they dissolve back into the remaining naphtha. Maybe that salt will help (I read about Naoh and hydrophilia)
Anyway, it's a blast experimenting with this and keeps me busy.

Btw, my stock may not contain any goodies, I've ordered Mimosa hostills seeds and phalaris plant to grow my own. Got a few years to wai0 while I look arond the area for a maidens wattle,

Well so I found another psychotria strain and am giving it a crack now. P Poliostemma it was called and was in a hedge!
So my tek is to boil leaves in an acidic solution. Just a dash of HCl (or acetic acid according to the teks) in the pot with a litre of water. I boiled it twice as I am impatient and thought if there is more to get after two boils then there will be something. Something....
So the next step will be to reduce the volume
then basify and pull with naphtha. And freeze precipitate.
But the thing I've noticed the first 5 times I tried (three local acacias, Psychotria spp and mimosa pigra root bark) is the naphtha separates to it's own layer immediately. I thought it slowly separated like a nice vinegarette!
Is this the case?
My quantity of leave matter was only about 2 cups, my other thought was I needed significantly more raw matter. Some of the teks call for an ounce some call for 2 kilograms.

My latest effort was looking fantastic. I was following elf's acacia tek and got past the defat stage.
I basified with a heap of NaOH, and am now at the same point as before.
There seems to be a middle layer in my liquid?
Cant post picture so I'll try and describe.
The bottom layer liquid is opaque, black. On top of that is a browny couloured layer about an 8th of an inch thick, then the clear naphtha about an inch on top. (Naphtha volume is probably 20% of total)
My research says that Acacia cinncinata contains alkaloids, they may not be DMT but it contains something. So my question is should something be in the solvent? even if the tree contains no goodies, the process should extract something, should it not? But there appears to be nothing in the solvent. no discolouration at all.
I'm trying to get the process right as I have some phalaris and MH seeds coming and I may stumble across a better acacia in my travels.

I'm not to sure about the Acacia cin. The middle layer is likely an emulsion. Did you give it a good vigorous shake, or a gentle roll?

I shook it vigorously and that formed the emulsion. overnight it was gone.

Bought seeds for Phalaris aquatica cv. SIROSA and Acacia acuminata - Raspberry Jam Wattle. And they are coming, maybe tomorrow. Going to make a nice ornamental grass thing outside my bedroom, otherwise MIL will become very suspicious.
There's a big essay on grownig phalaris and maximizing DMT that I've pdf'd. It's a pretty good article and thought out.
There is so much effort going into sharing these sorts of documents and I think it's wonderful.

Have Palaris aquatica (heaps of them) and arundinacea (1 of) in the ground and a mimosa hostills seed germinated and some acacia in pots.
Temperatures 21 to 27° C
good growing conditions here Can't wait.

So I found what I thought were a stand of acacia and took a wee bit of bark off a few (total 50 grams maybe). I performed a pretty quick acid base extraction and my solvent has taken some colour.... 8th attempt and first time the naphtha has tinted
. this seems to me like a species worth pursuing further. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how many phyloddes I should prune? I suppose I want maybe a pound? I find guesstimating difficult . And I'm not gonna take big chunks of bark. Thanks
