Hi Everyone,
I apologize if this info is available somewhere here and I have just not been able to locate it after searching this site, other sites, Google, etc. Embarrased

I am trying to find out the duration of MAO inhibition after smoking Changa/Harmalas...as in how long should one wait before ingesting MDMA, beer, cheese, etc? Also how long would one wait AFTER ingesting these types of substances before smoking an MAOI? I did find one comment on a thread to wait 24hrs after orally ingesting Harmalas, but nothing on smoking.

Thanks for any help Smile

Food interactions can change from person to person, but in general i think harmalas are safe even with small amounts of beer and cheese. Regarding the MDMA i personally would wait longer than 24 hours after an full MAO inhibation. I don't think the harmalas stay longer than 12-20hours in the body, but the serotonin upregulation and general neurochemical changes could stay for a while.
After taking MDMA i would wait also more than 24 hours, 72 at least before taking harmalas.

AFAIK there are no problems with beer or cheese with SMOKED Harmalas , because smoked they do not affect the MAOs in the Gut (please correct me if I am wrong...)
Always be careful with MDMA and Harmalas...

There's not even any issues with beer or cheese with oral Harmalas. As for smoked, i've personally smoked Harmalas with Cannabis while drinking vodka, and didn't have any negative interactions at all, tried it several times. And the diet thing for Harmalas isn't necessary, only pharmacological interactions can occur for which it's probably advised to give some time between oral Harmalas and MDMA, however with smoked Harmalas (because of the short duration), one could "potentially" smoke Harmalas while on MDMA, however i personally wouldn't risk it unless i really, really looked into it and weighed out positives vs. negatives before doing so.

I doubt you will have any issues with food since the MAOI effect is reversible.

As for the duration of the inhibition, I disovered the hard way that smoked harmalas keep you MAOI'd for at least 5-6 hours, I smoked some harmalas at around 9pm and at 2am smoalked 12mg DMT and the trip and intensity where up there as if I just had vaporized harmalas a few minutes before.

What do you mean by "reversible"?

"Irreversible" MAO inhibition means the MAO inhibitor binds irreversibly to the monoamine oxidase enzyme molecule and puts it permanently out of action so that the body has to synthesise more MAO enzyme to regain the ability to metabolise amines in this way.

Conversely, "reversible" means that the inhibitor can become unbound from the MAO enzyme and gets metabolised by other, different enzymes in the body and the MAO lives to see another molecule.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Gotcha....thnx dfz.

Have also been having a hard time locating some solid dosage recommendations for smoking pure S. Rue extract either before or with Spice. I have used Changa made with Caapi 10x 1:1 which was def enjoyable. Would an appropriate dose of harmala extract also be 1:1 (ie 20mg harmala extract to 20mg spice)? Or is there a general formula based on bodyweight?

How much Harmalas did you smoke? I've always wondered if one could perhaps drink a DMT-containing tea after having smoked the Harmalas to see if it was active. I would think, especially with purified Harmalas, that at some point MAO will be inhibited, even in the gut and liver. So maybe i'll try smoking some Harmalas one day and drink an Acacia tea and perhaps see if it would work, it's worth a try atleast.
