CooL! Maybe I should build that thing..... I've always wanted a pet robot spider! Be an adult only when necessary.

What would you call it? The spider itself is nicely made. But the film is rather boring imho (sorry). Could have been 10 times better if you'd have done some compositing and letting the beast crawl over your kitchen table or something. Anyways...make more, you are good! Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

I prefer that it is not in a room or on a table or something. I like that the environment is weird and alien. But each to there own eh? 5 Dimensional Nick wrote:But each to there own eh? Of course... But I'm not sure If you got me right. I meant compositing the spider into a real world environment. Of course this would mean serious effort. Taking good footage, tracking, compositng etc. but if you'd try this and see the result, I'm nearly 100% sure you wouldn't disagree anymore. Nothing against an alien environment. But the actual environment, a plane with a noise shader, is pretty lame...imho. This spider deserves more!!! Don't get me wrong please. You did great! I tried a spider a bit like this one myself some years ago. I gave up on it because of the many smal parts. And I knew that I wasn't willing to put enough time in it to make it look as cool as yours. So...do you have further plans with it? Did you make it just for you or is it for a project? Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

I followed a tutorial from Digital tutors. Built everything (to learn, as i'm just starting out). It was for a workflow tutorial for a shot of the spider coming out of a hole in a wall and walking off. Then i was following the rigging tutorial which is long, vhard, boringer, not really my cup of tea in cgi when I was stumped cos I'd done something slightly wrong in the modelling stage. So I fortunately could download their fully rigged model. I then added materials and color scheme of my own design. and the laser pointer and glowing eyes. Then I bunged him into some weird Tronesque arena I built and animated the little blighter walking about etc, which is a really hard and long process. My CGI guru mate said proper animation should take about a day for 5 secondsish of animation. I rushed it abit, cos i am so keen to get stuff done. Anyway, to cut a long story short I made a video which I bunged on youtube. Months later I realised I didn't really like it THAT much and had come across some other footage i'd done earlier (the stuff in the AIrachnid vid) and hey presto put it on youtube and took down the old one. If your interested the link to the old vid is https://mega.co.nz/#!pYsAARjK!ZMBAXlSaHZ5KawHZ8wexhTRckHsjqEBZF5OWFtStS1o Your brutally honest feedback was much appreciated so if yo gotta sec tell me what you think of the old one. Yours "excited to be learning CGI" 5DN ps: no further plans at mo. so many projects in my mind. its was for me and everyone else too. Quote:Your brutally honest feedback was much appreciated I'm glad to hear this. I was a bit afraid that I've been to harsh. But one thing I've learned...if one wants to become better, people who only slap your back and say how great you do won't bring you really further. Only from criticism we can grow. Quote:so if yo gotta sec tell me what you think of the old one. Downloaded it. Will tell you what I think of it later. Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.
