I Think, Therefore I Am Not. Only When The Mind is Silent, I Am

Hello Nexians,

I know there is a lot of threads on the Ayahuasca Diet and at times frustrating to see the same questions asked but I've got a specific question. My facilitator told me to just eat 4 organic vegetables/fruits 5 days prior to the ceremony and 1 day after the ceremony. I've picked 2 potatoes, 6 small heads of broccoli, 2 carrots, and 2 apples and I'm eating them twice a day. Is this enough to sustain the nutritional value the body needs to function? I've also been drinking distilled water because I don't have a R.O. (Reverse Osmosis). Is this a feasible diet to maintain or is this too extreme? From what I understand the more I give up prior to the ceremony the easier it is for Mother Aya to work with me. The ceremony is in 4 days and this will be my first journey with her.

P.S. My stomach has been growling none stop and I'm constantly hungry.

That´s my opinion on it...

Or in short: Eat generally light and you should be fine (starving yourself doesn`t seem like a good idea)

Thank you endlessness for your quick feedback Big grin. What I got from your linked post was, correct my if I'm wrong, to integrate a healthier diet into your regular eating habits in your daily life. I'm glad I read your post because I have been taking this MAOI thing really serious. Thinking that any sugars or salts would insult Mother Aya and to treat all foods like they had high doses of Tyramine. It is very comforting that I just need to eat lightly nearing the ceremony and integrate these new habits into my daily routine. I just want to respect her as much as I can. I've given up smoking marijuana for 7 days prior to the ceremony as a sacrifice, of something that I enjoy, to show her that I am serious about this journey into these realms and to also ask her protection and guidance throughout the experience.

P.S. Something that really struck me that my facilitator told me is to, give up a possession that holds significance and that the Earth will take back. I've decided to bury a crystal neckless, which I fashioned, that has been with me through a lot of my experience with psychedelics. Thanks Again.

I think you have the right attitude, I`m sure you`ll be fine Smile

Just remember that even if you have everything right, you might still be nauseated and purge... Don`t worry about it or try to fight it, let it come.. If doing indoors, have a puke bucket next to you or a quick escape plan to get to the toilet if necessary. If doing outdoors, make sure not to puke inside the circle where people are, go a few steps outside or at least turn to the outside to puke Smile

The whole 'giving up possessions` thing seems symbolically meaningful, and it's definitely something that can come during an aya trip, letting go of attachments, whether they are physical, emotional, etc. I think it`s not bad if you try to work with this before the ceremony, if the facilitator is trying to set up some `sacred space` through these actions.. Just remember not to take rules dogmatically, if there's something you dont agree with, you can try to discuss with the facilitator beforehand.

Good luck!

I think you might be eating too little with regard to energy and protein, that's properbly why you are hungry. The food you eat contains very little fat and protein, although the potatoes does contain a lot of carbohydrates I don't think it's enough to sustain normal energy metabolism for a long time but how much you need to eat can be rather different for different people depending on your body's size and sex for example. Men usually require more energy than women and a larger body need more energy than a small one.

I don't think there are any physical problems with following this diet for only a week but it might influence your setting if you are feeling hungry when you tripp.

Yes, I am expecting to purge out a lot of suppressed emotions around my fathers death but at the same time trying not to expect anything at all. From what I've read on the Nexus the purge is something to look forward to as it is a physical detox as well as a spiritual detox. Also, I was told for the first 30-45 minutes I want to hold it down as much as I can so I don't just puke up all the "goodies" and lose the initial absorption of her. But after that let her control when I purge. I have a feeling she is going to test me in many aspects.

In my recent mushroom journeys I finally got some practice in on telling myself that, the heavy parts or intense and difficult part, this is supposed to happen and to let it come in and through me, to accept this for what it is. After I did this the experience changed from really challenging to beautiful "endlessness."

I think the whole aya diet is a little over-exaggerated.. dont be afraid to eat! Of course it is always best to be safe, and some people like to diet for a ceremonial appeal, but as long as one stays away from meat, cheese, left-overs, and pickled items everything should work out great. Thumbs up

From a recent aya experience SWIM ate everything he normally does up until the day before and experienced no ill effects. And the day of drinking the brew had eggs, spinach, and toast in the morning, plus pasta in the afternoon. Drank the potion in two sessions, had no purge, and what a powerful trip it was indeed. A friend of mine that also participated even ate a couple McChicken's earlier that day (to my suprise, I dont recommend it), and didnt have any ill effects. Though he did purge brew round two.

All things I say are complete and utter ramblings of nonsense. Do not consider taking anything iterated from the depths of my subconsciousness rationally and/or seriously.

This is my first journey with the teacher plant and I've read all kinds of diets and severity's of certain foods that could be harmful. I think this is why I've been treating it with the strictness that is too extreme for someone that isn't practicing the shamanic path. Endlessness stated it the best in his link above.

"Often the exaggeration has come from misunderstanding, people ignore that harmalas are not typical MAOIs and therefore do not have much interaction with Tyramine. The list quoted by nen is a typical example of a strict MAOI diet that is mostly related to pharmaceutical MAOIs which are non-reversible, different than harmalas."

This gave me a peace of mind in my eating habits. He also stated that it's better if we just add healthier foods to our daily consumption, that way we don't have to change too much of our regular diet for ceremonies. So I kinda relaxed the diet but only to a certain extent. I'm still eating organics and staying away from the meats, fermented cheeses, pickled products, refined sugars and salt. I figured a small amount of sea salt isn't too bad. I understand that all this is to sensitize the body and mind for the experience.

Side-Note: I found this amazing soup that's called Amy's Organic Soups which are completely organic ingredients, I'd suggest some research of course but in my opinion are fantastic. As well as, Odwalla All-Natural Juices and Smoothies (Superfood) are great and full of all kinds of goodies.

Thanks to all that have gave me feedback much LOVE and PEACE.
