Hello guys; I'm new here. I'm from Western Australia. I joined up last year, but before now haven't really had time due to work and other commitments.
I'm deeply interested in the use of psychedelics as a means of expanding individual conciousness and gaining a deeper, more profound, though not necessarily spiritual, understanding of the self, nature, society and the world in which we exist.
My experience with psychedelics started out as a fascination with mescaline containing cacti, namely peyote, but also others such as members of the Trichocereus (Echinopsis) genus. San pedro (Echinopsis pachanoi) is, I think, a particularly impressive looking plant. That said, I still adore peyote and find them one of the most aesthetically interesting species I've ever seen.
As I continued to do research and discover other species and facets of ethnobotany, my interests have evolved and expanded, as such things do, to encompass psilocybin containing fungi, natural stimulants such as Catha edulis and Ephedra sinica, along with other species known to contain psychedelic compounds such as Argyreia nervosa, and Salvia divinorum. Though it most likely goes without saying, DMT has been of particular interest for several years now.
I'm here, not only to sate my curiosity and converse with individuals who are like-minded and have similar interests, but also to learn and expand my knowledge of what is, to my mind at least, one of the most fascinating areas of inquiry.
I look forward becoming part of this community and hopefully, if I have the capacity, contributing to the existing field of knowledge.

Hello wearepeople. Thank you for the warm welcome.
It's good to know about the ability to conduct research as soon - once I'm through with my current work under contract for publication - I intend to start a new project which will focus on the current state of psychedelic drug use in contemporary society and how it is, or has been, reflected in popular culture. Further, this project will also seek to represent the views and attitude toward the use of such substances by both those within the ethnobotanical community or perhaps more generally, those with an interest in or experience with such substances, as well as the logic, or rational cited by lawmakers concerning its continued prohibition.
Interest from the few publishers I've already approached is high, so I don't think I'll have much trouble finding it a home. But, the first step, of course, is to write the damn thing - always a long and harrowing experience. That said, when the time comes, I'll be making a call for those wishing to contribute - by way of knowledge and experience in various areas - to the project.

Would love to try out peyote some day. Cacti are incredible creation of nature! Great intro and welcome! ˝What you are is this deep deep thing...and you love to play.˝ - ?

Welcome u_r! I too just joined the nexus.
What were your experiences with peyote and San Pedro like? I've always been interested in them, and also ibogain. They seem to have a lot of similarities in the sense that they're otherwordly, but their differences intrigue me.

Hey guys.
I haven't been here long, but already this is shaping up to be my favourite community. No cynicism concerning other peoples motives, and no sarcasm. It's great.
PresentlyAbsent: I've only been able to do peyote a handful of times. The first was, of course, my most memorable. For the first time I can recall, I truly felt that there was something else, a sense of divine, loving benevolence that was all around - everywhere and nowhere. Other times, it's just been a lot of fun. I've done it with other people and what I've come to realize is that I, for some reason, am one of those people who doesn't suffer from nausea when ingesting things. Seriously, it doesn't matter what I take; I never feel ill. Some of my friends, on the other hand, have really suffered with this and said that, due to persistent sense of illness, their trip was slightly ruined.
I'm yet to try ibogain. But it is something in which I'm very interest. It will be good, have I have the chance to try it, to compare the substances - if such a thing is possible.
