Its really amazing that people in charge of such things like the DEA are not held to a higher standard. Giving so much misinformation should be punished with a fine.

...except, of course, where giving misinformation and brainwashing the public is your job.

Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm quitting DMT to avoid a lifetime of abuse and bad decisions. I'm just going to start drinking alcohol again and sit in front of a TV while my brain melts. Thumbs up

I blame the general public. What story are you more likely to read? "Man dies of supected hypothermia by the side of the road" or "Man dies from taking industrial strength hallucinogen"?
I know which one i would be more likely to read. And so the fake/truth ratio is stacked in favour of ensnaring the viewer/reader. Supply and demand. By not giving it the time of day we are reducing the demand for such vacuous entertainment masquerading as news.

This is appalling.

http://www.wxyz.com/news...le-in-msu-students-death

Quote:
LANSING (WXYZ) - Only a sophomore at Michigan State, Dustyn Frolka had proven himself as a rising star in rap music. At 19, he’d already been signed to a label, produced albums and put on shows across the country.

"He worked on his music, it was his passion. He was very, very smart," said friend Shelly Camach. "And he was very dedicated."

But friends also say that, over the last few months of his life, Dustyn began to change.

"He was just starting to be not as motivated as he is, he just didn’t seem like he had much dedication the last few months," Camacho said.

On Saturday, Dustyn’s life ended along I-69 when a motorist spotted his nearly lifeless body out in the cold. He died later that night, leaving behind a one-year-old daughter and scores of questions police are trying to answer.

But a possible clue in his death came from his Twitter account. Sent just hours before he died, Dustyn wrote this: “I’ve never done DMT and tonight is about to change (expletive).”

"DMT is a strong psychedelic hallucinogenic drug," said DEA Special Agent Rich Isaacson. "There is no legitimate medical use for this drug and there is a high potential for abuse."

Short for Dimethyltryptamine, DMT is a little-known hallucinogenic that occurs naturally in plants, and even in our own bodies. The drug itself not widely known today—even to many in law enforcement—but it’s popularity is growing, especially on college campuses.

"Now it’s trickling down to teenagers," said Dr. Erik Ayers, who works in the Wayne State University Physician Group.

"It’s a drug that people look towards using, because it does give them a different perspective of what life is, it allows them to run away from the realities of life."

Ayers has treated patients who’ve abused DMT, which is known on the street as “God’s drug.” Users liken it to a spiritual awakening of sorts. Others, like some who’ve described the experience on YouTube, say it allows you to create your own reality.

"The walls grew, like I’m talking the walls were like…woosh, woosh…they shrunk and grew," said one user.

"There were these gingerbread beings all around me," said another. "They do these really weird hand movements."

While the drug is not mainstream, it has certainly made its way into Michigan. In 2008, the DEA raided a DMT lab being run out of an apartment near Kalamazoo.

"The problem is, the more you use it, the more you get away from what reality is," Dr. Ayers said. "And you start to then hate reality, so that’s why the abuse potential continues."

If the drug played a role in Dustyn’s death, it’s too early to know for sure. Police are still working leads and treating the case as a homicide.

Blessings

Yeah, I sure hate reality!

After my trip the other day, I am so happy to be back to normal. I have an appreciation for normal life that those silly DEA agents could never understand.

What a crock. It's so lame that human nature is to respond with fear to something one does not understand.

I wonder if that dr. Ayers is a real person or just a made up person... does he really believe what he is saying and has he really treated people who "abused" dmt? All of it sounds so made up... Why does everyone think that psychedelics is about fleeing reality? Because isn't that what alcohol is for?

What a hypocritical hack:

He claims “I applied due to the need for humanism to be implemented into medical curriculums (because of) the ever-changing landscape of medicine. Medical education is evolving into two main areas – training and the business. Issues of being humanistic are not stressed except through student organizations like the Gold Humanism Honor Society and through medical school endeavors that revolve around community.”

"The problem is, the more you use it, the more you get away from what reality is," Dr. Ayers said. "And you start to then hate reality, so that’s why the abuse potential continues."

Is that so, "Doctor"? You, sir, are an idiot. Yes, I said it, just another junkie DMT burnout who has grown to detest everyday reality. How immature of me.

Except DMT has made me appreciate so much more what you, Dr. Ayers, consider reality. Fact is, sir, after four-going-on-five years of steady DMT use, weekly or every two weeks, with one six month break, I have grown beyond your tiny concept of "reality", Dr. Ayers. I do not live in the same world that you do. Oh, we walk the same streets, go to the same restaurants, maybe even read the same books (though I highly doubt that). But I see more than you do, Doctor.

Please, good Doctor, do not confuse this as the delusional conceit of a DMT junkie. It is simple fact. It would be useless to go into detail just how differently I see and, more importantly, experience reality than you do. It would be like describing a rainbow to a man blind from birth, or that exquisite first bite of strawberry cheesecake to a man without a tongue, or an explosive orgasm to a eunuch; the experiential neural network required to understand such things has not been evolved and worked like a muscle into being. Likewise, Dr. Ayers, you could never hope to comprehend the greater reality beyond your cherrywood desk and the framed credentials hanging crooked on the wall. Dr. Ayers, forgive the bluntness of this DMT junkie, but your perception of reality has atrophied, which always leads to entropy.

Okay, Doctor, I know. You are shaking your head. You take off your glasses and clean them with your tie. You know that I have offered you the same argument as the deeply religious or claims of mystics: "you wouldn't understand". So, let me offer you a brief glimpse into what my integration work with DMT has yielded: I have dropped very negative habits like nightly drinking, radically changed my diet for the better, learned more about the earth itself via gardening and patient observation; I am 33 and am in the best shape of my life. I have done more creatively since discovering DMT than all the other years of my life combined. While I have always been into these things, DMT has really made meditation and dream work and OBE practice a passion rather than a chore.

Oh, I could go on, but, Dr. Ayers, what is the point? You've spent way too much money and way too much time in classrooms being programmed to think a certain way; there's no way you could take the risk of proving what deep down you've always known: that you've largely wasted your life. A pity. A few whiskey nightcaps should dull the mournful wail of your inner voice.
Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. We cross and recross our old paths like figure skaters; our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.

Poorly reported, Poorly written, and poor judgement of the student to advertise that on twitter. smh
I died a mineral, and became a plant. I died a plant and rose an animal. I died an animal and I became human. Then why fear disappearance through death? bahahhaa okay, okay, okay gatta stop laughing, but seriously, "there is a high potential for abuse" ..... "allows them to run away from the realities of life" Umm I'm sorry but that sounds like alcohol and prescription drugs to me not the psychedelic I can barely get the courage to use once about every 3 months and leaves me curious and motivated to improve my life. I mean it really is sick how these guys brainwash the world. A true pitty. And its going on every day on so many levels :/.

I read this early this morning before I left for work and, having just gotten home, read it a second time. There has been a question in my head all day: "What can I do?"

Or better yet, what can all of us do? How can we change the public opinion? Part of me wants to live, isolated and alone, in a cabin in the Alaskan wilderness, living off the land and enjoying entheogenic experiences without having to listen to this crap; the other part of me feels that I almost have an obligation, as someone whose life has been dramatically changed by DMT (as well as Cannabis and Psilocybin) to spread this truth - and I know I'm not the only one with this inclination. But what can I do?

Good questions.

I feel like it's best to lead by good example, but be modest and respectful of how delicate this topic can be. It might turn out that we are wired to be afraid of DMT just like we are of snakes. Only the rare strange person has zero reaction to a snake. We might forever live in a sea of ignorance, and it may forever be that way. I think that is important to consider. It might just be in our nature to be afraid of our own shadow.

I wonder how he really died?

Was the DMT tweet a veiled reference to suicide? Did he take the medicine and have a freak out of some kind and get himself killed? Was it a homicide? Drug deal gone bad? Took the wrong thing?

We'll probably never know.

Interesting post, 112233.

I have recently been thinking of the tangible benefits that have manifested in my life since my use of psychedelics. I think the tangible changes speak loudest. Inner peace, and deeper understanding are subjective, and only really benefit the individual.

So, for the skeptics here's the list. I have:

-Dramatically reduced my drinking
-Quit feeling the desire to smoke cigarettes
-Gone back to the gym
-Kept a cleaner house
-Nearly finished my bachelors in mechanical engineering (on my last semester)

In every other facet of life, I have seen no declines. This incomplete list was not meant to be of things that have been caused by psychedelics, but just tangible evidence of my progress on my path to self-improvement. They have all happened during or since the beginning of my adventures in psychedelia. The drinking, smoking, gym, and house cleaning are all a direct result of my use of psychedelics, but like I said, what does it matter why? I could have done these things without psychedelics, but they would have been less likely to actually happen, I believe.

My life sure has been spiraling out of control, I tell you! How am I ever going to be able to keep following this path of self-improvement?! Things might keep getting better, and then where will I be? Oh, woe is me!Laughing
