Would anyone happen to know if there'd be any negative interactions between Gabapentin (Neurontin) and the Harmalas or the DMT? Also since we're on the subject of "drug to drug interaction", what about Clonidine? As far as i know, Gabapentin shouldn't cause any negative interactions with MAO-inhibition, and Clonidine is just used to lower blood pressure and last time i checked it too didn't cause any interactions with MAO-inhibition.

I of course wouldn't take these and then take Aya/Ana, but i would be taking the Gabapentin during the day (which should wear off by the time i usually take Aya/Ana) and the Clonidine would only be taken at bedtime. I have not yet started taking Clonidine again (i used to take it years ago, and am thinking i might try going back on it sometime soon) and i've been taking about 600mgs of Gabapentin about twice a day for the last week.

I just wanted to come here and make sure of some things before i take Aya/Ana again (which i don't have anything planned yet, just wanting to make sure though).

Thanks

According to the BNF:

1.The anticonvulsant effect of Gabapentin MAY be reduced by MAOI antidepressants (which includes RIMAs);

2.The hypotensive effects of clonidine is enhanced with MAOI antidepressants, which again includes RIMAs.

Why are you on these meds? Interactions aside, its important to consider the ailments for which any med is used.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Well i'm taking the Gabapentin as a mood stabilizer and anxiolytic because i want to take a break from Cannabis as i've been self-medicating with it to help control symptoms of my Aspergers. And here recently i've decided that i'd like to take a break from Cannabis and then later on re-approach it in a more honorable and sacred manner. And so far the Gabapentin seems to be a pretty good mood stabilizer and anxiolytic without any side effects. I just started taking the Gabapentin within the last two weeks, and have taken a short break from Ayahuasca for the meantime, and i just wanted to make sure that when i do take Ayahuasca again, that the Gabapentin won't negatively affect or interact with, the Ayahuasca.

The Clonidine, i'm not on currently. I used to take it growing up, ever since i was a kid, to help keep my explosive aggressive issues in check, and i had went off it i think around 4 years ago, and because of the wanting to take a break from Cannabis thing, me and my mom both agree that the Clonidine should come back, just incase. But i was wanting to make sure that if i took Clonidine at bedtime, that it wouldn't affect the Ayahuasca if i took the Ayahuasca the day/night after taking a Clonidine.

And Ayahuasca is so worth continuing on with, it's taught me alot about myself, i've had amazing experiences (as well as difficult experiences), and i've practically went through each experience, alone, in the comfort of my own room, sometimes even outside, especially back in 2012 when i first started with it, man that shit was awesome as fuck. But yeah, i wouldn't think there'd be any negative interactions between Harmalas and these two pharma meds, i've searched for any MAOI interactions and really didn't find much on the subject, but i just wanted to make sure and get a second opinion on the matter, just so i'll know what i'm doing.

So yeah, i'm not looking for an anticonvulsant effect from the Gabapentin, so i guess that's no biggy. And as long as i take the Clonidine at bedtime, then it should be about worn off by Ayahuasca time the next night, i would think.

From my understanding it is less about how long it takes for the meds to "wear off", and more about how long it takes for the meds to completely clear your system. Although I believe there is a correlation between the two. Just because you are no longer feeling the effects of something does not mean that there aren't high enough levels of it in your system to have a negative interaction with another chemical.

Yeah but i'm pretty sure there'll be no negative interactions between them and the Harmalas. I just wanted to make sure that it is indeed, hypothetically anyways, safe to take the Harmalas while using these two meds. I've even taken Tizanidine (kinda like Clonidine but waaaay more sedative) after i've come down from Aya, and there was never any negative interaction, same thing with Benadryl. But yes, i will of course be careful in my exploration, but if you or anyone else comes across anymore information regarding the safety of these two meds and Ayahuasca, then please let me know.

Thanks
