Greetz Peeple!

I have been going through a change im my life over the past year, a lot of people will see this as an awakening. Long story short is that I stared viewing talks and You tube Videos by JOE ROGAN and he mentioned TERENCE MCKENNA, so I started getting more info on Terence which eventually lead me to Psychedelics and eventually the NEXUS.

Last night I was going through some more audio clips by Terence and Something dawned on me, Terence died in 2000... There was actually a moment of silence where I didnt know what to think as I have been intensively reading, listening and researching Terence and his works without ever thinking about the present. "What now" was all I could think of.

With that said a bunch of thoughts popped up and started bothering me. Like "if he has died almost 14 years ago whats the use of my research OR who picked up his work" and so on.

I would like to ask a few questions and Im hoping any one here can help out:

- I am 14 years behind... What should I know?
- Who picked up is work? His legacy?
- Has there been any progress on psychedelics since his passing?
- Who else did the same study? Who has more recent views on Terence's work?
- Who do you recommend to follow / research that could help me to expand my knowledge I.R.W Psychedelics and spirituality?

I hope I didn't offend anyone with this topics, Please note this is my

Peace and Love!

You pose some interesting questions, I'd like to see them answered as well.
Though, for me it's out of curiosity.

Are you familiar with his brother Dennis?

There is a lot of other interesting psychedelic thinkers out there to. Maybe take a look at the book bin for some ideas

I mean, if anything, at least in terms of trying to get the word out, Id say Joe Rogan has kinda plopped into the shoes of Terence in that regard. Joe's more of a HOLY SH*TBALLS YOU GOTTA TRY THIS ITS RIDICULOUS whereas Terence was more laid back in his delivery and much more eloquent. But, Joe is getting the information out there and to a much broader spectrum. You could say Terence McKenna to 50 people and MAYBE, maybe 1 will know who you're talking about. 49/50 will know Joe Rogan.

And yes as Universecannon said, Terence brother Dennis, who's way more into the hands on science aspect, still has some pretty fantastic things to say.

I would also mention Graham Hancock. His posts on his facebook page often are about psychedelics especially ayahuasca and dmt.

On his website you can find some reports about his experiences with ayahuasca in Brazil if I remember correctly. Some of those experiences are pretty out there in my opinion and worth a read.

His book Supernatural is a must read if you are interested in psychedelics. In the book he makes a strong case about the use of psychedelics by cavemen and connects this to the rock art of that period.

And yes of course like mentioned above Dennis McKenna. His book The Brotherhood of the Screaming Abyss is just a great read. I really loved it.

Yea joe rogan is good for the media but he is no McKenna. People who don't know psychedelics tend to think Joe is exaggerating and not very credible. You should look into the John Hopkins study on shrooms. Very good stuff!

This is accurate.

I always love when Terence would be speaking to a crowd in his lecture video/audio's on youtube and he'd say something funny about DMT on purpose to make people laugh or chuckle thinking it was just an exaggeration, and then he'd follow up with something along the lines of "You laugh now, but a time will come when it'll wipe that smile right off your face!"

Oh so true. If only every one got their feet wet at least once.

@universecannon thanks for the PM, I cant reply as Im still a sprout Very happy Much appreciated!

Well thank you to everyone's Input here, I appreciate it alot! This should get the ball going again.
I actually only heard about His brother this morning, when coincidentally I have his audio book (Terence McKenna - True Hallucinations) copied onto my car radio's storage. It is really great to hear the book in his own words by him. In the book he explains their amazon trip, I am at chapter 5 where they found the Shrooms.

I agree with your input on Joe and Terence. Terence was a more natural kinda dude for me, But I do like the way that Joe Rogan puts in out there in his own very energetic way, Joe Rogan got me into this in the beginning, I heard a Joe Rogan quote on a YouTube video (YouTube: Humans Are Awesome) and that got me into my search about a year ago. The YouTube video kinda got me thinking "there has to be something other than this ballbusting 9 to 5 thing"... Turns out there is, we just forgot whats important.

I am hoping to do my own research as there is a big lack of this field in South Africa. Or it might just be that I don't know the right people? Either way I am doing this by myself and I will be recording all my progress as I continue and I am hoping to later share and teach people here starting with my friends.

I am really happy that I found this site, To me YOU here at Nexus are the only like minded people around. And to top it you all are very friendly, that to a newbie is really great. Thanks!

As I wrote this I got very excited with the realization that I am on one hell of a journey which is only starting now!

We have all 'picked up his work'
Everyday/everyone is greatly contributing to 'progress on psychedelics since his passing'
'Who has more recent views on Terence's work?' - I'd say that humans and our relationship with Spice/Etc has evolved ALOT in the past 15 years; & if he had the opportunity to read the Nexus, his mind would be blown.
'Who do you recommend to follow / research?' - obviously the Nexus, but everything is related and connected. This one time my doctor asked me if I could recommend a Yoga/Spiritual Guru for advise; I told him to put on his Stethoscope and listen within.

In the dance of astral hyperspace, we learn, grow, and connect. Here's to our shared journey through the cosmic tapestry! ✨🌌
