Hi..Ive tryed easy three step mescaline ectraction using the safer..[citric acid] several times in past with no so great results..
Maybe my cacti was low or void of mescaline?... or maybe my method of extraction was wrong?
Ive long wanted to try using [muratic acid] extracting mescaline from cacti because of impressive photos of crystals in salting jars..
I know its more dangerous to handle than the safer [citric acid].. but if i were to safely use this HCI acid what are my benifits in mescaline extraction?
Will I get bigger crystals?... more pure crystals?....
I know that muratic acid will ..[compleatly evaporate]..when [citric acid] often seems to stay in final product?
After evaporating acidic water pull..tasting a tiny amount of my recent [mescaline citrate] I found it tasted exactly like the citric acid crystals I used in the salting jar?.. and asumed that it was all citric acid and dumped it...
This is wastefull and frustrating not getting rid of citric acid from final product..
I did try mixing very cold water in with my dryed acidic water pull to seperate the citric acid from the mescaline..[If ant were there?]..and found the coldwater compleatly got cloudy and left no crystals on bottom of jar?
Si I asumed it was 100 percent the citric acid i used as a salt and dumped it..
I heard that mescaline was somewhat soluable in water but not in very cold water asuming that the citric acid would seperate from the crystals leaving the more pure mescaline?
It is posible that my live cacti that i bought had no mescaline in it..not shure..
What about my method used...is muratic acid much better to use giving a larger amount of product or is citric acid just as good?

Taste the cactus, if it is bitter you should have some alkaloid present.

Citric is tricky.

HCL is easier but requires much more saftey.

My last batch of M-citrate is a little sour and very bitter on the aftertaste.

The cloudy water sounds like M-citrate, citric acid does not make cloudy solutions.

From the questions asked I'd say stay away from hydrochloric acid.
Its far too easy to hurt yourself or others if your unfamiliar with chemistry.
Citric acid will work just fine.

Also, never throw away stuff from extractions until your satisfied with the final product. If a mistake is made somewhere, the product should still be in one of the fractions and would typically be recoverable.

When I did my mesc tek, I followed 69ron's foodsafe outline. Except I used HCL instead of vinegar because it is not so clumpy, and instead of citric acid because the yield is more accurate -- in the way that the citrate molecules are situated so that the yield will look a lot bigger than it actually is, and I wanted to be precise in that regard.

Just use your head and always at least open a window and wear protective glasses when handling the hcl.

[but.. because recent research claimed that putting VERY COLD water on the dried mescaline citrate crystals was a way to remove exess citric acid ..they said that the water would become cloudy and to pour the cloudy liquid through a coffie filter to remove the excess citrate from the mescaline..
I poured the cold distilled water over the crystals and the water clouded up pretty fast desolving the whole pile of crystals ..[very quickly]..and I asumed it was all citric acid crystals? !

Early in the process..I tasted the cactus ..[several times]..and it tasted like a cucumber not very bitter..
It was a live ...T.peruvianus bought at cactus farm...the worker there said he was shure it was [[T .Peruvianus]..[sanpedro macho]..and i took his word for it..
I had to re taste the cactus.. and ..[try hard].. to notice some bitterness/..and did notice some ..[very minor].. biterness...
Thats why I suspected the evaporated acidic water was mostly just a hazy crust of citric acid..[but I may have been wrong in that asumption?]
I did everything but ingest some of the dried product..but I am impressed at how quickly the haze in bottom of evaporation dish scraped up nicely. after water evaporated .very dry and crystiline!
Citric acid is suposed to be safe to ingest ive read so I should have tryed 100mgs of the product...maybe cause a stomach ache if it was all citric acid??
I will send photos of the evaporated pull and one of it after being scraped..

then solvent after shaking shows bubbles emultion between solvent and water...
then the emultion mostly gone in last photo..
Is it normal to get bubbles between solvent and water layer?
