All psychedelics that I've tried have changed me in one way or another. If they don't change you, you must not be paying attention!
You said: Great thanks for all of the replies, but I think some of you may have not understood the question, being not necessarily in relation to lessons learned, but just a simple increase in lasting conscious awareness.
How could you possibly separate the two? Your level of awareness is affected by your experiences and lessons learned through them. You cannot separate the two, just like you can't separate a piece of music from the notes that compose it.
My biggest leaps in awareness have come from having heavy psychedelic experiences and taking notes, writing down the realizations that I'm having at the moment. Upon later reflection I resonate strongly with these notes (since they stem from actual recent experiences) and am able to integrate the lessons more deeply as a result of note taking. It's a form of conscious integration that I find gives me more of a lasting sense of positive transformation. Sometimes it might just be one brief statement jotted down, while in other cases I might fill an entire sketchbook with notes. Usually it's stuff about appreciating my own existence for being the miraculous thing that it is- an easy fact to forget in the day to day hustle.

all i can add is that after overstanding Psilocybin, I will never look at something as simple as leaves blowing in the wind or an ant crawling on the ground the same way. psychedelics have shown me that everything is connected and nothing or noone is apart from the whole that is our existence.

Quote:Your level of awareness is affected by your experiences and lessons learned through them. Can you explain the use and meaning of the word 'level' in this context? I know of two types that might apply, one means volume, so you would be saying a volume of awareness is affected by experience etc, but then how is this volume determined, measured etc? The other aspect of it is like a grade, or an achievement, you would then be saying that the accomplishment of awareness, or even the mastery of awareness is affected by experience, but then how is this mastery determined and understood as such? I must have an exceedingly low level of awareness, both in terms of volume and ability to be aware, because I do not understand how the word "level" applies here.

Before psychedelics, life was like being in a dark room. Of course, it didn't seem dark at the time. That first LSD trip was like turning the lights on momentarily. Even after the lights slowly turned off again, I cannot forget what I experienced. What I saw has since influenced my perception of where and what I am. Even if I forgot what I saw and what it is like to see, I cannot forget what I now know as a result, even if it is only that sight is possible. Could you go into detail about how your first trip was, what you learned, etc? Thanks dude I would love to hear.

.....Mescaline: Too goddamn much fun.....?
In my experiance mescaline is very spiritual and earthy and ancient... This medicine has been.. and still is being used for its spiritual conection to mother earth by native americans .. One thing mescaline has taught me is to respect mother earth and the life exists everywhere from the dryest rock to the tinyest blade of grass..everything is a life form at some level and deserves respect...

i have been doing yoga and meditation for 10 years before i tried any psychedelics it definitely changed me forever in a positive way, expanded my horizon in a way that is hard to explain. Still, daily exercise and mind training add values that psychedelics alone cant give me. blessed be all forms of intelligence

Consciousness is always expanding. It's happening moment by moment, day by day as we experience the thoughts and feelings as well as the internal and external events of our lives. Psychedelics, in my opinion, provide opportunities for sometimes sudden, rapid expansion or may lay the foundation for growth in new directions by opening doors of insight that one continues to follow after the psychedelic experience has passed.
In my case my first LSD experience at 16 taught me that the reality I experience is highly subject to the chemical state of my physical brain and that my senses could be altered to such a degree that they could not be entirely trusted. This new perspective alone was a powerful shift in the way I viewed the world around me.

"Charlie, we just a call from the universe.
We believe the call was informing us that the answer was yes.
Charlie, the answer was yes" "Think more than you speak" "How do you get rid of the pain of having pain in the first place? You get rid of expectations" "You are everything that is. Open yourself to the love and understanding that is available." "To see God, you have to have met the Devil." "When you know how to listen, everyone becomes a guru." " One time, I didn't do anything, and it was so empty... Almost as if I wasn't doing anything. Then I wrote about it. It was fulfilling."
