This happens to me as well. It come on just as fast and as strong as the trip does. I can never pinpoint the source, which leads me to believe it is in me. As I try to locate where it is coming from it disappears, but if I just sit back and quietly enjoy it, I can have a mild experience. Incredible!

First post here!

This is exactly what I wanted to talk about Smile

I get this sudden DMT flavour all throughout my throat n mouth,

I thought it was from breathing in lots of MHRB powder inadvertently.

Or its cos the freebase needed cleaning up a bit, was proper white tho.

Who knows.

I can taste cocaine sometimes too. F**k knows how it happens.

A friend I introduced to vaped DMT, who owns a vegan restaurant, giggled when I opened my little vial and held it to her nose. She said:

"Ça sent les tortillas de maïs! Le Delice Mexicain Tortilla!"

(It smells like corn tortillas! The Delightful Mexican Tortilla!" (DMT, obviously!))

I smelled it and you know what, I have to agree! There must be a stack of indoles in a stack of tortillas!

My beloved often tells me that I smell like the spice... she swears that in the first moments after waking, the dmt smell is very strong on me. She's been saying it for years now.

HER: damn, 'doozler, you smell like the spice? What we're you dreaming?

ME: Joe Rogan was talking out his keister, the nexus guys say. No proof spice has anything to do with dreaming no obe's nor nde's. Make me some chai tea please

HER: see, your rhyming! you always do that after tripping!

I don't believe that I have ever smelt dmt....except for when it was right in front of my nose. She catches wiffs all the time, not only on me, and not only after waking.

Dmt's smell is shared with tryptamine for sure, and both probably get their odor from the breakdown of small amounts into indole and/or skatole. This could be true with other tryptamines as well, but the rabbit cannot directly verify that. Since indole/skatole are contained naturally in all sorts of places, and can be produced by various bacteria working upon tryptophan, it only seems logical that once this particular smell is registered, it can be picked up in all sorts of places.

I have a co-worker who seems to reek quite strongly of dmt, it's an interesting phenomenon, because I know the man has never tripped in his life. I am guessing he must be showering or washing his clothes with something that has a significant amount of indole in it.

Is this what some people refer to as 'call'?

The flowers of a green plum tree smell exactly like DMT. Indole is all over the place but sometimes it is pretty bizarre. I also smell caapi tea in the strangest of places.

There are a variety of summer smells that smell compellingly similar to DMT crystals in my area but, I find it is just as likely for me to perceive the smell when I'm engaging in a behavior that is worth some focused mindfulness. It is sometimes difficult to tell if there is some phantom olfactory bell ringing to remind me to wake up and pay attention or if there is some empirical source of smell that i happen to be walking through; for the moment, I see no difference.

I sometimes smell it randomly now that im familiar with what dmt is supposed to smell like. But when I catch a for sure "whiff" of it, its time to go back, its been too long, my mind or whatever (maybe through my mind lol) calls me back to hyperspace... lolBig grin

10 mins ago there was DMT taste in our mouth. Anyway, we cannot possibly connect it to new sneakers, we connect it to Indo-Pakistani latrine desinfectants (phenyl), a black, carbolic, coal tar derived (?) liquid. Lifebuoy soap had this carbolic smell, also Wright's original coal tar soap..There is controversy in India with regard to phenyle as one sadhu claimed, that a room mobbed with phenyl could dislocate the chakras out of the body. This sadhu produces his own cow urine "phenyl" so we don't know if it's a marketing trick...?

I've had the random DMT smell / taste before too, for months after not doing DMT, though it's getting more rare, which almost suggests it isn't elimated so quickly, or at least its byproducts.

After my introduction to dmt I realized that the guy's (person who gave it to me) breath smelled like it permanently. He kissed me one day and not only was his method of kissing gross to me but his breath smelled super strong of dmt and it was the biggest turn off. Now, after having smoked it a few times, I smell it and taste it in my own mouth once in a while Sad as if my mouth absorbed it and will never go away. The thing is that while smoking it, it doesn't bother me but in my breath or other people's breath it reminds me of tooth decay, uffff!. I had to go to the dentist to make sure it wasn't that. I'm insecure talking close to people now, because of it :/ the struggle.

oh yeah.. this dude said he binged on it every day for like 3 months straight. So I'm sure that's why it oozes out of his pores and breath now. I noticed that some people mentioned their significant others morning breath smelled like it and I feel it relates to it smelling like tooth decay to me so I'm thinking that maybe it get's absorbed in the monkey glands which are really hard to clean properly and that's why we get whifs of it once in a while.

I've noticed the random smell occasionally ever since my first handful of experiences around six months ago. It is quite pronounced, always in the location where the majority of my experiences were. It fades quickly, but it's somewhat strong, as if a hit was just vaped in the room. It's quite odd, to say the least, and while I've noticed some things that smell similar to it, I've never noticed anything that smells similar enough that it could be completely mistaken for it... I also feel like I would have at least noticed a random foreign smell if it had been happening prior to my experiences.

I swear I smelt it outside coming from certain trees and flowers in the summer. Definitely walked by a couple places and had to stop and take a second whiff.

Yes!

I experienced it today in work, I don't know if it was something similar and my mind related it to DMT or if it was actually some kind of DMT but I definitely smelt it.

I also usually catch whiffs of it when out walking the dogs.

It's amazing how this goes un-noticed for years yet once you taste DMT you start to identify with it regularly.

Just found this thread and i am so glad i am not the only one.

This has happened a ton of times since i first tried and extracted dmt and interestingly it happens fairly often when im not even thinking about it, and its usually so powerful i stop dead in my tracks wondering who would be nuts enough to smoalk in public around a bunch of people. I always wonder if there is some unique trait of dmt to make this happen, as it doesnt happen for me with any other substance, including weed, Which i smoke a lot of.

I smelled it strongly the other day--right after I had made the decision to take ayahuasca that night. I took the smell as a cue to smoalk that afternoon, and I was grateful that I did.
