A friend of mine (I'm not SWIMing, I avoid acid like the plague for reasons that will be obvious) recently took two tabs of what his dealer/friend swears was pure LSD (he claims to know the feeling, being something of a psychedelic-enthusiast himself), and proceeded to, in his words, "completely loose his sh!t."

He ran away from his tripping companions, stripped naked, ended up attacking innocent bystanders, and was ultimately subdued by a cadre of local police officers and carted off to the hospital for sedation and treatment of pretty extensive injuries.

Prior to this, I'd always looked on psychedelic horror stories like this as just another form of anti-drug propaganda. Even the worst trip reports on Erowid never looked anything like that. He claims not to remember anything.

Have any of you guys seen/experienced something similar? They medics didn't do a toxicology test, so no one can be sure that it was real LSD, but the other trips all claim that it was just potent tabs of acid.

It makes me kind of reconsider the whole "recreationaly-induced-psychosis," thing.

I had a buddy think he was dead & try to jump off a deck, but we pulled him off & kept him safe until he came down. That was a mix of many factors though, and many different drugs. Some people have bad reactions. More to the point though, for a long time doses were very weak....and that's what most folks were used to. They'd eat 2 50 mic hits & think that's what LSD is all about. This year has seen an abundance of extremely potent doses. I've been around for a while, and these doses are the best that I've ever seen. If people that are used to barely scratching the surface, and thinking that's where it's at go & drop these it's real eyeopener. Drop their normal number of hits & they're in way over their heads.

LSD is a beautiful compound. It just needs to be treated with respect. Of course there are also the RCs to contend with. This is why it's a good idea to always test the doses.

That's well said, Dark_Star. I thought the same thing. A friend of mine dropped two Avatars and had his world ripped apart (to put it mildly). The guy he got it from said they were over 300 mics each, but he all ways exaggerates, as most people do. However, this time he probably was telling the truth. If one were to double drop real Dalai Lamas (400 mics each), that would be a very frightening experience.

I never take more than one hit at a time for this very reason. You might suddenly get the real deal and be stuck on a long hellish ride.

Mind-set and setting are key when it comes to acid.

My thoughts:

- previous emotional/mental/spiritual health issues manifesting
