if your taking capsules of syrian rue seeds then its no wonder why you have stomach discomfort...Just brew it...(btw how many grams is "6 capsules"?)

The purge cleans you out and can even be very psychologically healing. Resisting it has always just made things worse for me personally, and it seems antithetical to try and eliminate it altogether. Its always good to know ways to make it a bit easier on you though, especially when it comes to nausea. So thanks

I rarely purge, but when I do--and that trusty bucket is always at the ready--it's no big deal at all. Why some think a purge is awful and to be avoided at all costs, I'll never understand. Out body is much, much smarter than we are; it's best to listen when it speaks.

I've also found, though, that as I progress down this Molecular Path, and improve all aspects of myself, purging is extremely rare, whereas in my noob days I'd be making many trips to the bathroom for the rear purge. I think after working with this stuff for so long (a relative long), many of the toxins have been transmuted and a purge would prove superfluous.

Huh. Maybe I don't care so much is because I never never never actually feel sick in the least: if a purge happens, I feel it coming and thirty seconds later I'm brushing my teeth and loading up some changa to get back in the game. No sickness at all, just a little voice that says it is time, I puke once, and only once, brush and get back to the Show. I can understand your ambivalence if you actually feel sick for a while before the purge; I'm just lucky that my body assimilates this precious stuff so eagerly.

Yeah some people don't feel sick leading up to the purge, which i guess a congrats is in order, but for those who already have gut issues, atleast for me, the nausea and abdominal pains really put me off from wanting to take Ayahuasca. I mean, all last year (1 to 2 times a week) i was taking full on doses of Ayahuasca and i welcomed the purge each and every time, but i just got tired of feeling that extreme sickness leading up to the purge, that i set out to find a way around that.

I've taken Zofran (which helped out really well, but is expensive as hell), but ultimately i wanted to find an herbal way of relieving the sickness, and Cannabis helps with a little bit of nausea but doesn't in any way relieve the purge lol.

Ultimately though, if i'm not mistaken, aren't there different people with different kinds of Ayahuasca brews, in the jungle? If i'm not mistaken, i've read about how some in the jungle will use egg whites to cleanse their brews, and of course will mix their Ayahuasca brews with other herbs. And while some Ayahuasca admixture brews may contain Brugmansia, i've heard there are people who add stomach relaxing herbs to the Ayahuasca as to quell the sickness involved. Granted, i guess everyone has their own little way of taking Ayahuasca, but i just think it's not only interesting but exciting, adding certain herbs to Ayahuasca and experimenting around.

Have you ever tried pharma? You might do better with pharma rather than more traditional plant brews.

ginger can do wonders for the stomach, as well as peppermint.

also, Kratom is pretty good at stopping you up at levels too low for activity.

Yeah i've been looking into Ginger here the last couple days, and they say 1 gram of it as well is enough to help with nausea and vomiting. So i may add in a gram of Ginger too just to have it in there. Peppermint also seems good. Never looked much into Kratom.

one thing ive noticed with my Kratom use over the last few years, is that in small doses you can still get the physical effects (energy, pain relief, constipation)from Kratom without producing profound psycological effects. Its worked wonders for me when i had serious diarrhea from dehydration.

For me, the nausea goes away immediately after a small purge and then the heaviest part of the trance starts. But i also find fighting the vomit reflex is a losing battle. When it is involuntary, it is inevitible for me.

If my body wants/needs to expel excess, I listen to my body and the medicine. I see it as part of surrendring to the experience and being open to all the places it can take me, including the bucket.

Thank you so much for this! I know some people enjoy the purge, but I suffer big time leading up to it, and only feel relief because it's over.

I will try what you said for the next aya trip.

Thanks!

It might also be helpful to add in a very small dose of datura seeds. Part of the nausea caused by harmala alkaloids is cholinergic in nature. Harmalas are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, therefore they increase levels of acetylcholine in the body.

The effects of this are similar to the muscarine in fly agarics, which can cause nausea and vomiting, or high doses of tobacco which are also nauseating. Muscarine and nicotine are both acetylcholine agonists.

An anticholinergic would block some of these effects. And if you're using rue, the other unwanted quinozoline alkaloids also increase acetlycholine levels by their butyrylcholinesterase inhibiting properties.

5-10 seeds should be effective for most people. It's best to use a barely threshold dose of the seeds. Other tropane alkaloid bearing plants can also be substituted, but Datura is probably the easiest to work with.

Datura and tropane plants can be very dangerous. Venturing past threshhold doses is not advised and proper deliriant doses are hard to calculate and are even more dangerous. But threshhold doses are perfectly safe.

Yeah i've heard about using the Datura seeds. Thanks for the info Smile

I didn't know that about the acetylcholine causing nausea and vomiting, so thanks for the info.

It's good to know there seem to be multiple ways to get around the nausea and vomiting. I myself believe that there can indeed be a purge free Ayahuasca, i personally do not believe one must suffer these, what i deem as side-effects, with Ayahuasca. I'm pretty sure that in some ancient past time, this type of medicine was used in a way without the side-effects, and people who are seriously into Ayahuasca should be open to experimentation and seeing what all you can do with this stuff.

I had my first oral DMT experience this week. About 40 minutes before drinking a 5g syrian rue brew and 20g Acacia confusa brew, I took a threshold dose of Datura seeds. I experienced very little nausea and did not purge.

I have a very strong stomach and I know that a purge doesn't always occur, but I have a feeling that the Datura seeds helped a lot.

I imagine that a combination of Datura, lemon balm, chamomile, and ginger would be very effective at preventing nausea and purging.

Another thing that probably would be helpful is lemon essential oil. Some of the nausea caused by harmalas and DMT might be due to 5HT-3 receptor agonism. Lemon oil contains beta-pinene and possibly other terpenes that are 5HT-3 receptor antagonists. I have read about lemon oil being used effectively to prevent nausea from other psychedelics such as bufotenine.

Also, one way that the chamomile might help is that it contains apigenin and chamazulene. These compounds inhibit CYP1A2, and therefore would help potentiate the harmala alkaloids since they are partly metabolized by this enzyme.
