Sadly, in this age of an abundance of information, speed of its flow, and extreme availability, limits must be placed on our access because people and their programs clog up and dilute down the density of meaningful information.

This is why I'm here posting an introduction. Not because I wouldn't have wanted to introduce myself, on the contrary, I would have in due time. But because new members are restricted from opening/downloading attached files (in addition to being unable to post).

Is this due to fear of bots creating accounts and using up bandwidth by downloading copious attachments?

Spam bots are one of the reasons we have the welcome area in place, it's also a good deterrent for trolls, and it works as a sort of screening process to make sure the new members understand and are willing to adhere to the attitude of the forum. It allows the community to have a say in who is ready for full member and who is not by voting, which is a nice democratic way of going about it (and makes life much much easier on us moderators lol). You seem to have a good attitude, I think you'll fit in well here. Looking forward your further contributions to the forum.
