Often I'll wake up and have a song in my head that I haven't heard in years. I woke up this morning with a song I know I haven't heard for at least two years, possibly longer. The lyrics are revealing as to why it was this particular song: Quote:You're something like a canvas that's been stretched and primed You can become something priceless Or you can be a waste of time I need a meaning I can get behind To be alone is to be alive A better message to subscribe to To be alone is to be alive This is the best time to be alive To be alone is to be alive Consider where complaining gets you To be alone is to be alive I've been questioning my self-worth a lot and I've been feeling stifled lately and desperately need some solitude. I can analyse what it means but I still find it so bizarre that my mind can basically act like an old record player and just pop on any song I've heard in my lifetime ![Smile](/forum/images/emoticons/smile.png) Anyone care to share their experiences with this? A song popped in your head during the day that meant something to you, and you know you haven't heard that particular song in a long time. Or having a specific song play in your dreams like I have.

Well lol, i keep a dream journal and i noted a dream in which i had a good amount of cocaine and enjoyed snorting it. I never actually did cocaine. Upon which i awoke and noted the song Dance with the wolves (It is about cocaine) was stuck in my head. which has been stuck in my head for about a week. I thought it was an interesting connection so i noted that too. I think it is interesting. Something about these songs help program the ego. I have read somewhere that listening to music uses a large percentage of the entire brain and thus requires a lot of focus and (to my mind..) songs can leave a strong imprint on the entire structure of the brain. ^^

Marvin Gaye - Trouble Man after I woke up one day (a couple weeks ago), that song was stuck in my head. one of my all-time fav songs, by an all-time fav vocalist. acetylcholine is a prominent neurotransmitter in REM cycles, and directly tied to memory. I once woke up with this song stuck in my brain: It was all I could do to not lobotomize it for such heinous and malicious conduct.

On a more positive note, I once had this song play in a dream and spent many frustrated months trying to track it down. As you can see I eventually did

I've always been fascinated by the influence music has over so many areas of my life. I didn't mention it, but it was the same for me dreamer. I didn't recognize the song at first, wasn't sure what band or song it actually was. I only spent about an hour trying to figure it out, not months, but that made it all the more bizarre. That I couldn't even remember what song it was and hadn't heard it in several years. The brain is a fascinating organ. The age of aquarius ![Laughing](/forum/images/emoticons/laughing.png) I once had "Blinded by the Light" stuck in my head for days...I thought I was going to lose my mind. It was like some sick joke...I like the Springsteen version better

That's a good song ^ Perhaps it could be that your brain is bringing forth these bits of information to help you with your current situation? That would be pretty awesome.. Do you think the Goddess might play any part with these memories? I have noticed that Salvia can let thoughts flow more easily through my mind, especially with old memories. Your a great guy Metanoia. We all appreciate you here and without you this community wouldn't be the same. You bring a level of clarity and positivity that just wouldn't be the same without you brother

Thanks for the kind words ![Smile](/forum/images/emoticons/smile.png) Although you haven't been a member here for long, I feel that your creativity and artistic ability add a lot to this forum. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this either, I know many other members admire the art you've shared. I think Salvia could be playing a major role in this. I find my auditory sense to be greatly enhanced with Salvia, and not just during the experience. I smoke plain leaf at least six times a week, so almost every night with my meditation right before bed. Salvia definitely affects my dream state so it could be my subconscious bringing these old songs/lyrics up out of the depths to bring some unresolved issue to the forefront of my conscious mind.

Yeah man, powerful emotions being uprooted. Chewing leaves can be so medicinal for the mind. I know it's a dissociative but it feels like it opens up parts of my mind.
Salvia can make me cry sometimes but in a good way. Sort of like the mother's touch I've never had. Good stuff good stuff..

I think a lot of us regular users of Salvia (at least those of us that are male) tend to have some issues with our mothers. I know I certainly do, and I know a few others not including yourself. Perhaps I should try to research that a bit more. Seems like it could be interesting. The female motherly energy that Salvia exudes is very enticing to someone who didn't have a loving mother growing up. Lady Salvia envelopes you and comforts you with that loving embrace. Ayahuasca has the same sort of feel to it as well. Or maybe she just gives you what you most desire...if you approach her with respect and humility.

It was The Beatles' Across The Universe, accompanied by a fantastic trippy flying dream that gradually faded as I woke, sobbing. Seventeen years ago, but such a vivid memory.
I'm capable of having crap stuck in my head for weeks at a time, often old classic rock like Bob Seger, stuf that just got pounded in there at an early age, carved a deep channel in my brain whether I like it or not. And so it'll just manifest for like two weeks, three quarters of a verse from Night Moves, repeated so many times that it's distorted almost beyond recognition. Sometimes my main drive for actually playing music is to chase this stuff away.

I'll try to write something new or just play other songs I know to try to forget a song that's been bothering me for days on end. I fell asleep on my couch this afternoon and this song was playing on a radio in my dream... I have no idea the last time I heard this song. I don't even listen to the radio.

So i dreamt of a girl coming over. Meanwhile i was hoping for another girl to come over. When i woke up in the middle of the night i comtemplated the best way i can get physical with both of them. Then this song started playing in my head while walking around the house. Mambo No.5

What? Both at the same time? Or one after the other?

What? Both at the same time? Or one after the other? Oh, suprising interest. Caught me off-guard there, Hug! ![Embarrased](/forum/images/emoticons/blush.png) I was thinking of which one i should do first and if i should keep quiet about it if i wanted to do both. Pretty sure i woulden't be able to handle both at the same time. And to be honest i probably won't do more but think about it anyway. ![Laughing](/forum/images/emoticons/laughing.png) One of them even specifically told me she doesn't want to have sex with me. The other one well... We tried it once. Was an awkward experience. But the song.. Hah! A lil' bit of ....
